Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass
I have read many many stories on the web about how Zaino is "the" polish to use if you have a toy you care about. I have used Liquid Glass in the past and have been very happy with the results, I believe Finish First is a similar product. Both of these were also "the" polish to get in thier day and age. Is Zaino simply a similar product with a new name and popular to those not familiar with the "old" stuff or is it truely different? Liquid Glass can be found in most stores now at a decent price, Zaino is controlled by distributors as the "old" stuff once was. Is it worth the effort to hunt out a distributor and try this product?
I'd like to hear from people that have used both of these products on the same car (if possible) to share thier opinions on which they liked better and why. Maybe share some alternatives too, I like Nu Finish for my daily driver cars. The main reason I ask is that I am a new owner to my car and it is a very dark color. I don't want to ruin the finish with the swirly look and want the deepest, shiniest look I can get. I plan on getting a clay bar soon and give the car a good once over and then a good coat (s) of something.
If you don't want to share you opinions openly please feel free to e-mail me at millenniamike@hotmail.com
Thanks for any help.

I used to use Liquid Glass. I loved how easy it was. The thing I noticed over time was that it seemed to harden the paint. This produced more paint chips. I then switched to Meguire's. I think I get a better shine now and I know I have a lot less chips. As far as the Zanio goes, I've had a distributer try to sell me on it and it actually made the car duller on the side he did. Go figure. Only weird thing I've heard about Zanio is a club memeber that uses it on his Vette and gets "great" results, only to have it look like "junk" on his Honda. He's stated Turtle Wax does a better job on his Honda. My .02!

Re: Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass (R94 LT 1)
I haven't personally used Zaino...yet. Until a few weeks ago, my Vette sat outside. I WILL use it next spring, though. I've seen many forum members cars that are Zaino'd, and they look fantastic. No swirls, just a mile deep shine, that doesn't attract dust. Find a local forum member that uses it, and check out their car.

I'll give up my Zaino when they pry it from my cold de.....wait a minute, is this the NRA forum?
All kidding aside, I've use Liquid Glass, liquid Crystal, McGuiers and a host of others. Nothing but Zaino from now on. Even when I'm in a hurry and get my car detailed I take my Zaino wash and wax for them to use. :yesnod:

OK,
Here go'es. I used liquid glass for years on many different cars, and was always pleased and impressed. I swtched to zaino 6 about months ago and it too is an excellent product. I have about 20 coats of zaino on now and it looks great, however my untrained eye really cant tell the difference from liquid glass.
I switched mostly because of all the good stuuf said about zaino here on the forum. As for liquid glass being abrasive, several people have told me this, and if it is, its really a small amout. I use it on my eye glasses and can see no scratching whatsoever.
Bottom line:
1. I would not switch back because ihave to much time and effort in with the zaino
2. I also think there are long term benefits to my paint with zaino.
3. does it shine better than liqiud glass? not to my eye.
4. Does zaino last as long as liquid glass? they seem about equal here but I wash and wax so often its hard to say. However on my wifes car, with one coat of zaino vs liquid glass the LG did last longer (thats 1 coat compared to one coat)
5. Would I switch today, Mabye just based on other forum members love of this product, and possible long term benefits to the paint.
6. The availablity is the last factor, being able to get LG down the street is a big plus I hate sending away for it.
7. cost LG is less expensive
8. LG is easier to use
Thats as objective as I can get

Re: Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass (Jim D)
Jim, the polish test was BS, and not fair ot any of the polishes or waxes. You can't compare all the worlds polishes on a trunk lid for chrissakes.
I was going to try some, but on the back it said, "Don't be alarmed if the polish rag turns the color of your paint..."

Re: Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass (Gonzo)
Thanks for everyones input. I think I'll try some and see what happens. It sounds as though the very worst performance I might expect would be that it is similar to LG and there is a good probablilty that it's better. Good enough reason for me to make a small investment and try it out. Thanks again!

Re: Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass (Dragon2U)
I have tried both Meguiars and Zaino. Both gave a good shine, but Zaino had a deeper look. Plus, with multiple coats of Zaino, IT ONLY GETS BETTER! I think I've also noticed that Zaino lasts longer, althought that's kinda hard to tell. I really don't get my vette "dirty" per se, it just gets really dusty.

I guess I'll have to represent the old fart brigade... Back in the
60's I used Classic Car Wax exclusively. This included a '54 TF MG,
a '68 Firebird, a '69 230 Mercedes-Benz and finally my Ruby's
stablemate, a '78 FIAT 124 spider.
When Classic went out of business, I switched to Mother's California
Gold. I prefer the protection of carnuba, maybe I'm a bit gray in the
beard (I am), but that's my preference. I finish my wash jobs with
a spritz of Mother's Showtime and my Ruby's finish is deep and swirl free.
I also carnuba my chrome sawblades every 4th or 5th wash. By the way, my Ruby is a daily driver...

Re: Polish - Zaino vs Liquid Glass (1991C4)
Yup, that was a good test (IMHO) that I had read about earlier in my quest for information about Zaino. The only problem was that it didn't utilize the same product that I wanted in the comparison, Liquid Glass.
