Will these brake pads fit?
Hi. I have a '96 LT4 'Vette. J55 brakes, of course. I previously owned a '94 Camaro Z28 and have a brand new set of front brake pads sitting in my garage for said Camaro. Will these pads fit in the Corvette? I also noticed noone seems to sell a different J55 specific pad. Do I have larger rotors but the same size pad? Thanks for any help.

Can't help you on the Camaro question, but you could pull a pad off the Vette and make a direct comparison....
Good luck to you.

I just went to the Hawk website yesterday checking out HPS pad sizes... I'm replacing the stock (non-J55) pads on the back, and upgrading rotors, calipers, etc. to J55's on the front. Pads are the same for J55 and non-J55. You want HB111F.610 on the front, and HB112F.540 on the rear (catalogs like Jegs will have similar part numbers). Check it all out at http://www.hawkperformance.com.

J55 and JL? use the EXACT same pads.
THe pads that go on my 98 Z28 fit my Z06 PERFECTLY also (or any C5 Vette).
Your Camaro pads have a GOOD chance of fitting but YOU could be the man that compares the two pads, Vette and Camaro, and tells the rest of us if the '94 Camaro pads fit.

I don't think they will fit. Camaro's got a major brake upgrade in '98.
Older than that is very different than C4. (10.5" rotor) benny

Give me a few days. It's raining here in New England today. I'll compare the pads. But this is all temporary as I want better pads in the very near future. Maybe Hawk?

Try Ford Parts
I got this off the Grand Sport Forum:
I was able to verify that the Ford Mustang Cobra front brake pads, part #F5ZZ 2001 A (list price $41.79), are identical to the '96 GS/CE brake pads.
The *ONLY* difference is a flat finishing piece that is inserted over the rivets that hold the outer mounting (spring) cups to the pad. The Ford parts are identical to these (CE/GS) and this is an appearance item only. The compound is identical.
The '95-98 Cobra uses the same front caliper as the 89 (88?) - '96 Z51/Z07 (and '94 up base) Corvette, except it says "Cobra" instead of "Corvette" (as used on the ZR1/CE/GS Vettes). Why the *HUGE* price difference is anyones guess, but I'd urge you to get these if you have a C4 that will be needing (or one that uses them) pads.
Anyway, at ~$40 (depending on any discount you may reach) for the set (including new "jesus" clips) this is one of the few bargains out there for these cars.

Watch out for this condition. My old pads were larger than the surface of the rotor. You can see how much pad extended beyond the machined surface. This is a 93 with standard brakes.
