My wife and I took the Vette out this Sunday after church for a drive down to Lake Cumberland. The dam has a leak and they have drained the water level down so they can fix it. We wanted to see the water level, the water is lower than I have ever seen it. We live only about 1.5 hours away from the lake and it was a beautiful day, sunny and 80 deg. After a look at the State Park and a cruz around the dam we headed back to Russell Springs for a stop at Sonic...to get refuled!!! Thank God for spring time!! Hope you enjoy the pics!!!
Going through Harrodsburg, 1st settlement in KY..
Gettin closer.....
Just arrived at Lake Cumberland State Park...
The winter pool level is usally about only 1/2 this low.
Now, down to the Jamestown/StatePark Marina...
Off to the dam, where the work is going on....
On the other side of the Wolfcreek Dam, which is 1 mile long...
HAVE'N FUN & LOOK'N GOOD!!!...
You can see the darker rock, which is usally the lowest level...
Thanks for the pics! I love Lake Cumberland. My family used to take our summer vacations there back in the day when I was a shorty. I look forward to taking my family there one day, too.
I bet the HUGE largemouth bass you get down there were stirred up and looking for some chow before spawn. Great road trip pic's, bet you had fun. With the water level being down so much, I woulda left the lady and dog and grabbed a rod and some lures and gone fishing...
Man my wife and I did almost the same trip you did. It's a long drive down to the state park. I could not believe the water level myself. Of course I had the kids so we took the truck, would love to do the road trip in the vette though, Great Pics.
Teach that dang dog to smile. You guys are in synch, except for dog. By the way, he looks like he has a skin problem, like many doxies. Too much of it.
