My car just started recently making a chirping noise in 1,2,3 gear only at wot, then when I put it in neutral it goes away, and when I go really slow and go over a speed bump, sounds like somethings rattling right under me? maybe has something to do with the chirping noise? And my car is a 93 6speed with 83,000 miles

Do you think it does much damage when you miss a shift in regular driving? I mean low RPM, regular driving, let the clutch out too soon and hear and feel the grind "urrr", then back to neutral. Not when high RPM power shifting etc. I think I do it trying to get in reverse most often, or just when I am being lazy, always makes me cringe and get mad at myself!

3000 - 3500 unless I am in the "community safety zone" - then generally from 1st to 2nd (and that's as high as I can go) at 2500.
Ramping onto a highway - 3500 - 4000 & above on occasion.

finally someone making sense (ZR1, understood).
i can understand the L98 guys with stock setup doing 4,000-4500 rpm. but i'm not even seeing that.
but you LT1'ers are even more stunning. what gives? 2-4,000 rpms? WTF. i'm beside myself.
hand over your keys, you don't like driving, you need some buick or a neon

If my 90's tach worked I'd probably string it out to 4k+ regularly - gotta keep the carbon build-up under control, ya know?
Usually tho, it only sees <3k. I would love to swap intakes to something a little more "rev-friendly" so I can really listen to that exhaust sing.

It depends on too many factors to say - I shift depending on what feels right to the car, traffic conditions and how much I'm pushing. In normal town traffic I tend to go from 1st-2nd to 4th, missing 3rd, and I guess the car is wanting to trundle around 2-2.5k rpm. 4th seems to be the most useable and flexible gear so I try and stay in it as long as possible in traffic. If I'm stepping on it I will try and get as near to redlining as I dare, and of course use all the gears, but I really feel power dropping off before 6k rpms (and vibration from the tranny increasing) which makes me not want to push it, unlike my little Honda which peaked at 6800 and I was always putting it there.

I'm a hearing and feeling shifter also, always have been, but I do know what sounds are at what rpm AND whenever possible, meaning safe, I run it up way past 3k before shifting, at least in the lower gears, heck the LT5 starts to really sound good around 4500.
A funny "V8 sound" story. Taking my drycleaning in yesteday and it was nice so I took my Corvette, as I pull in there is a spot next to a tricked out Hyundai, two door with all the stuff, gauges on the A pillar, black wheels, painted calipers....we've all seen them. Anyway, I take care of business and as I come out so does the owner....young guy maybe 21. I look at him as hes getting in and looks at me, I say hi......he says nothing. I think you arsehole. He hurrys up starts and backs out behind me, note, his passenger window was all the way down, I was started, and as he was dead even with the old B & B's I let him have a 5 or 6k LT5 blast.
He slowly putted away and I followed him out of the parking lot..... He was humbled, he left the parking lot like a perfect gentlman. I chalked it up as one for the V8. Only way it could have been better, is if I had Corsa's
