I'am going to buy new carpet for my 84, looking on e-bay they have mass back carpet and plastic backed carpet is really one better than the other ? whats a good sound proof mat, insulation( whatever you call it)company,thanks guys

Mass back is the type to buy. It replaces your current carpet and insulation. The poly back is glued on top of your original carpet and is of a lesser grade carpet.

Mass Back is the way to go. I just received a set from Stock Interiors. They are great to deal with and you can get samples in two days.

As far as heat/sound barrier, look at Exotic Vettes. Nice clean job..
