Default Open Top and pour in $$$$$$

I am still spending money on my C4. I looked at some numbers the other day and I am afraid to total the receipts. I will end up keeping this car forever. Anyone want a C4 for $750,000?

So now I am curious, how much money do you have in your C4? Please be honest and even pad your numbers some to make me feel better about my money pit!!

PS: Yes, I am actually enjoying playing with my toy. I just need to get back to the driving phase, you know engine installed etc...

The 88 35th was 10K and I added a complete new interior $7K. Definitely not right side up in this one.

The 92 Coupe was 7K and I added 3K in maintenance items. Maybe OK in this one.

The 94 ZR1 ??K and added 4K and more to come. Maybe OK in this one also.

All I know is the obsession is burning a hole in my pockets.

If the wife only knew I would really be in the dog house.

Including purchase price, $11k over a 5 year period.

Still need a motor rebuild and a new 5/6 speed; another $11k.

Jeff, you will be back on the road again soon. Just a thought while the motor is still out. If you have ANY doubts about the steer rack and inner tire rods (actually a ball and socket) now would be the time to do it. Parts are dirt cheap compared to the labor due to difficulty in getting to it later. Just a thought for more money into the pit (pay me now, or pay me later). You will be back on the road soon and since we can drive them all winter that is cool.
I guess I have a little over $8k in mine, what I paid for it plus some minor mods and maintenance.

I paid around 15K for mine six years ago, and have put less than $4500 in tires, maintenance and repairs. This includes custom upholstry, and CE Wheels. I'm now collecting parts though for a complete heads, cam, and top end rebuild. This will cost me some dough. I got the heads and intake, now waiting to buy the MSD Opti, cam, rockers, lifters, WP and misc. items.
I can't think of anything I'd rather dump my $$$ into at this point in time.

I've had my 93 for about 5 years now...between the purchase price, replacement of worn out parts and upgrades for the drag strip I have about $20K in her...btw, none of the upgrades were motor work...still stock with 115K miles on it...all were to beef up the driveline...

If I added it all up, about $10k ~ $12k... but that's over 6 years and 120k miles.

I am including tires, brakes, oil, stereo and clutches. I am not including gas and insurance...

To be honest, the only parts I should include are specific to the Corvette... things like Optis, clutches, wheel bearings... otherwise, most other cars have the same issues... oil, gas, tires...

$11000 for the car, and another $8000 in parts/paint. Of that $8000, $2500 was to paint the whole car, and I did all the disassembly/reassembly. The only other things I paid for has to have the new leather seats mounted on the foam and charge the air when I rebuilt the system, and converted it to 134A.

All the rest is parts, oh yes, and don't forget the 200 hrs. of my time to restore this car. Lets see, 200 hrs@ $80.00 hr., typical GM shop rate = $16000.00 in labor.

I will be buried, both literally, and figuratively....in this car

To date:
$8100 purchase
$ 600 brake pads & rotors (needed track rotors & pads)
$ 200 replace coil and cats

Early next year:
$ 800 new bushings, ball joints, etc (rebuilding suspension)
$1600 headers, cats, remainder of exhaust
$1000 Opti, waterpump, plugs, wires
$600 Pads, rotors, brake fluid (I track the car so these get replaced at least once a year)
$1000 Track tires

Yea, I'll be upside down by Feb.

Let's see - I traded my '87 300ZX (100k miles) and $1200 for a '90 Lincoln Town Car (153k miles, limo business), traded that Town Car and $2000 for a '92 BMW 525i (197k miles), traded that BMW straight for a 1988 Camaro IROC (65k miles), traded that IROC and $700 for the '86 Corvette. Put two tires on the Vette and replaced the front Air Dam/Spoiler and Spark Plugs. Painted the Lug Nut Caps Gloss Black (best $2 dress-up ever). Installed Louvers on the Tail Lights. Covered the Console Seat/Mirror Controls with a Vette Cover. Hard to tell what the Vette has cost me - but I'm liking it more everyday.

Andy,

Sitting on my craftsman stool last night, I was pondering these parts. You are probably right, pay me now pay me later. Off I go with money in hand.

Hard for me to say as I don't keep up with it...just in case my wife finds out. I estimate about $1,000 a year on each vette. On a good year.

Bought the car 8/8/2006 for $10,000.00.

Last 2 1/2 months over $8,000.00 in engine repairs & interior replacement

Almost $20,000.00 in a (mint) 93 that might be worth $14k-$15k at best that will be driven maybe 250 miles a month.

Take it out on a sunny day with the top out and just cruise around the beach: PRICELESS!

I'm used to dropping a good bit of money into a car. Have had my truck for 14 years. Drop on average about $1500 a year and the truck is worth maybe 3K. Not sure how much I have in the vette but I've just started dropping money on her. I've had the car almost three years...didn't spend a penny other than routine matience until this year. Now i'm at about $1200+, all within the past 6 months.
