Default How do you remove your roof?

I see no other way, but this is what I do:
Unbolt all 4 corners, put ratchet down, make sure my door is wide open and windows down, grab the roof by the sides, and then I use the advantages of my youth and stand up while holding the roof above my head like some sort of grand prize I just won or something :D Then I flop it around and toss it in the back....

All in all I'd have to say that to onlookers who are not in the know, I probably look pretty goofy when carying out that procedure (not that I care an ounce mind you...). :yesnod:

After unbolting all four corners, I get out of the car and stand by the drivers side door, then I tip the top from the front. Then with my left hand on the middle of the front and my right hand on the side, I lift it up. I tip it up so it is vertical and back away from the car. Then I walk around back, slide my left hand farther up the front side to balance it out, lean the front against my body and slowly lower it into the slots in the back. This seems to work pretty well. If the top is hot you need a towel or two and have to go fast!

I put down the windows, open 2 latches, pull the lever under the rear lid, lift the back of the top, push the button on the back edge of the door, lift the lid and fold everything inside, close the lid :jester

VERY VERY CAREFULLY..NOW! After dropping it on the seat and breaking a corner off...I glued the piece back in but it looks bad so I have altready ordered a replacement from a Corvette repair shop..I have to set up an appointment as they want to fit to my car rather than just give it to me to do it myself..
As far as the Targa I undo all 4 bolts, pop the hatch and very carfully lift one end until I have a good balance.. then carefully lock it in place ..

You mean the top comes off the coupe? @#$!?

I thought to myself, "self, GM must have just meant for this roof to be bolted on once and never intended to be removed. Or surely they would've made it easier to remove."
All kidding aside. I very seldom remove the top.

You want to remove the roof from time to time to allow the weather stripping to expand. This helps with sealing it and making it last longer.

Someone should invent something to replace the torx bolts so you don't have to ratchet 50 times to make sure the bolt is far enough out. :mad

I don't do it very often. The paint is nearly a year old...and it's been off ONCE since I had it re-done. Car feels too twangy with it off...though it does feel nice.

I roll down the windows...take off the front bolts first, then pop off the backs. It does get that sweet sound once the roof's off though. That and with the hatch vent in? Forget it!

A you and Snowblind had it. If you have a bad back add this step. After removing the four bolts, put one foot on the console and lift it out. Less wear and tear on the back. :seeya

First move to Florida, then leave the top off. Only put it back on if you stuck in the rain, then promptly take it back off.

I also only use the A/C a couple times a year in the rain only.

It sounds like I'm in the minority on this one. I get my wife to support one side and I'm on the other. We walk the top to the rear where I get hold of the top myself and she pops the hatch! We both then glide the top into the holder in the rear. I've done it myself but, feel more comfortable with the two of us.

Makita 9.6V adjustable torque cordless driver. Bolts go in on setting 4 and come out on drill setting...all four in 30 seconds flat, no effort. Stick the roof in the back and I'm in the car ready to go before the toll booth line has a chance to move.

I'm with Peter...leave that sucker off until (A) it rains, or (B) you feel the urge to take it to the racetrack. (year-round racing no less!) :reddevil
