Smoke from the console
The other day I leaned on the console where the drivers' seat controls are (it's an 85) and the switches started smoking.
Has this ever happened to anyone?

Make sure all the wiring is fine and hooked up right.

Yup, check the wires under the console.
Some dummy ran one of the screws down through a wire under my console and it's just a miracle the car didn't burn down. The wire was burned completely through in two places.
