Default Yet Another Corvette Rush!

Your'e at the local Autozone, NAPA, PepBoys etc. parts counter to buy a few parts. The area is pretty crowded for a Saturday morning with about 5 or six guys standing around. Then it's your turn. The guy behind the counter asks "can I help you"? You, in turn, tell him what part you are needing to buy. Then it happens! The next question is "for what car"? Your heart speeds up a bit while you say "Corvette" and whatever year your car is. Invariably, the parts guy sort of gives you a just by the way he is looking at the monitor. Before you know it, at least one of the guys standing around will start talking Corvettes with you. This is the only car I have ever owned that gave me that type of response when ordering parts. The Corvette is truly America's Sports Car!

I tried Autozone twice, on the second visit they started with what kind of car and I answered CORVETTE. The response was "Is that a car?" I gave up and went to my regular haunt CARQUEST. They look things up in BOOKS, but half the time they just go to the shelf and get the correct part.

When I tell them "Corvette" they ask me:

who makes it?

car or truck?

half the time they select chevette by accident.

interesting......because every place i've gone to,
they ask "what kind of car?"
I say "93 Corvette"

The navigate the computer and go to 1993, chevrolet, corvette..... and then they ask me ( depending on which store i go to) "is it a SOHC or DOHC", or "is it a ZR1?"

Never had anyone ask they questions yall have heard..... yet.
I'm sure it'll happen one of these day. Funny that this topic has come up, because everytime i say "93 corvette" i watch and make sure they pick "Chevrolet"

I deal mostly with O'Reilly, they know me and my car. Invariably, though, if someone mentions my Corvette, one of the customers will strike up a conversation. I used to be the one jealous of the Corvette owner, so now I am good to those who don't have one. I answer all their questions, and sometimes even embellish the truth a little.

the butt plugs here ask the same questions. I went in for touch up paint over the weekend and they wanted to know what size motor I have... as if a 96 CE didn't come with both

Called our local "Ice Cold Air" to see if they could diagnose an air-condition problem (turns out it was the low pressure switch) and the girl on the phone kept asking all kinds of stupid questions like number of cylinders and size of engine and no matter how I tried, I couldn't get over to her how stupid the questions were...she kept saying the computer is asking, not me. I wonder what she had pulled up on that darn thing.

One of the guys at my local Checker is a rice-burner. He has an older Supra that he likes to throw money at. Whenever I buy parts, he starts talking up his car. Then his co-worker with an Impala SS says, "I still beat you by 10 car lengths in the quarter. Let me know when you're ready for a rematch." That shuts him up.

Could my stock '85 4+3 take a late 80's stock Supra? I don't know the mods he has, so who knows how I'd fare against him now.

I say "93 vette" and then he says ZR-1 I say no and thats it. The guys at my local autozone are pretty good they all have their own hot rods and they always help me with my car.
