Yes, but if she bitches the rest of the week then is she worth having????
I checked the kelly blue book value and the ZR1 holds better value than the LT4, and it is 6 years older!

Why would you say it's not needed? For full power out of corners I think it's the best thing going. Granted, in the summer with hot roads, most of the time the car has more traction than power, but in spring and fall it can save your a$$.

well my opinion is this, since you cant lose with either,if you plan on doing mostly daily street driving,I would choose the LT4.Drive both back to back, the LT4 motor is more responsive, feels a little quicker around town, its not until you get into the higher rpms where the LT5 feels stronger. They both are capable of cracking the 12's in the 1/4,with the LT5 a little more mph.Besides,LT4's right now are several(5-7) thousand $$ cheaper than a nice 90 Z,thats plenty of money for mods,to surprass the Z in any kind of speed contest.Like thats already been said, the LT4 is cheaper to maintain(parts are alot cheaper). The 96 also has all the improvements(updated interior, quieter etc.)of a 6 year newer car. However,if you dont care about that, will do mostly weekend highway driving, and just like to pop the hood and look at that engine, and have people crowd around it,than get the Z

If someone would do something about the part issues associated with the Z's I would love to have one and I would drive it regularly. The appeal of the car is the power + mileage. But since the LT5 is ridiculous to rebuild I would have to throw my hat in with the LT4. The only down side is the power without the mileage.

Not sure why everyone thinks a ZR-1 has to be a weekend only car. I drove mine everyday for over six months without any problems. When its not down for an improvement project it still sees very regular use. Coming from a 94 LT1 I did have to change my driving style a bit. The Z likes to rev and if you want responsiveness you must keep the rpms a little higher.
As far a mods go the Z can hit 400rwhp with just headers, exhaust, a ported intake and a good chip. The cool thing is there is no drivability penalty.

I was thinking about this some more: I came from a mustang to a 96 vette. I know that the vette will recover fom oversteer almost like magic, the mustang however was not a good car to get into oversteer, so when I first had the asr, I thought it was amazing. But it really only comes on in the spring and fall when the roads are cold.
