Oh ya...this one has been debated to death too...
I'm one of those "the speed was more like 65 instead of 165" because a C4 *might* get that fast with a long, flat road that you can hold it to the floor for miles downhill with a tail wind...and the Crown Vics wouldn't have been able to keep up at 165.
More "Deadliest Police Chases" dramatics and very little fact.

b) Do you think that a Crown Vic would keep up?

When I saw it on TV, it appeared the back tire was flattened also, which would explain why he spun around so easily...

As I recall it was an L98 car (91) but I definetly remember both rear tires were flat. They always overhype these chases. In another they were chasing an M3 and John bunell says it has 240 horses, well sure M3's had 240 but not in 89 which is about what year this one was, and they had 190. One of my favorites, he kept calling this one car an economy sports car, he was playing up the handling, and that it was quick since it was light. They were chasing a GEO metro. If they did OJ's chase they would probably say, The powerful SUV keeps the high performance police cars way behind.

Crown vics do not do 140. At the time the fastest full size sedan used for police work was the 94+ Caprice classic which could go about 135 according to michegan state police findings. Crown vics I can't remember, but it was under 130.
