95' needs a tuneup
My 95' with 63,000 mi. has developed a slight miss at idle. Probably needs plugs and wires. Is this as tough a job as I hear it is ? What all is involved? If I have to remove the AC and alternater would this be a good time to replace the valve cover gaskets as well? Any suggestions on plugs and wires.

Plugs - NGK Platinum
Wires - Taylor or MSD
Valve cover gaskets? Are they leaking? I suggest replacing them when you do the intake manifold.
This can be a pain, take your time, it's not impossible.
Some pointers -
1) remove as much of the inner fenders as you can.
2) #8 is a bitch. I suggest a conventional plug socket and a 3/4" offset wrench to remove.
3) I see no reason to remove the AC compressor, but I would remove the serp belt. With the inner fender liners off, you can reach in behind the wheel and below the compressor to reach the wires.
4) right wires are easier, kinda...
Good luck!!!!

I found doing mine it was just about necessary to remove the belt tensioner. It makes getting the wires on the opti a whole lot easier and remember to use Di-electric grease it makes it all easier to install(and uninstall later).

As Bogus said, plugs aren't too bad except for No. 8, which can be dealt with as he described.
Wires on the passenger side aren't too bad.
Wires on the driver's side are a raging beeyotch. As Bogus said, remove the inner fenderwell panel. Also unbolt the ASR Controller bracketry from the car's frame, etc so that you can move it around as required (you don't need to remove it from the car, or to disconnect cables, etc). Also remove the serpentine belt, and unbolt the power steering pump. You don't need to disconnect the hoses from the pump, just unbolt it so that you can move it forward around 1/2 inch so that you can sneak the wires in/out behind it.
You'll need plenty of:
1) Patience.
2) Beer.
3) Band-Aids.
And you'll likely gain a more colorful vocabulary as a side benefit.
Be well,

I did not have to do anything but remove the fenderwell, belt and tensioner. You do not have to remove or loosen anything else unless you want to.It helps on the opti to lift the front end and do not forget to mark the wires,I used masking tape and know which plug on the opti matches what wire.
Oh and the looms depending how old are fragile.Try and get a good pic of the routing as it is all a tight fit.
