Child seat in Coupe
Hi All:
I have a 92 Coupe and a 03 Twerp.
I'm hoping someone can lend a hand in desribing how they mounted the teather strap(goes to rear over top of seat) in theirs.
Thanks

I never used the tether straps in my 93. Just laid down a towel (to protect the leather) and used the "clinch" feature on the retract.

Just because the seat HAS the tether does not mean it HAS TO use the tether. It will be fine without it if your car does not have an attachment point. They have them as an "added" feature...new cars accomodate the tether.....old cars do not.

You've hopefully heard this before, but you really should not be putting a child seat in the frontseat of a car, especially if you have an air bag. Even if they have a weight sensitive switch, I would not trust my childs life with it working correctly. Not to be a jerk, but that's just not safe or smart IMO.

Having 3 children, I would not put one in the front seat even without a airbag. A lot of states in the US do not allow child seats in the front, I know my state does not. Not sure were you can find the stats, but I read kids in the front seat in head on and rearend collisions have more serious injuries and are more likely to be injured. Just my .02!!

Granted things have changed with the laws and all, but I feel safe putting my daughter in the front seat with me. I feel safer in the Vette then I do in my DD which is a 03 ZX3 Focus. Talk about a car designed to fold on impact!!!

I personaly have taken my 18mo old son for a ride in my 94. His car seat is forward facing with a 5 point harness and my car has a passenger air bag. One thing I'd never do, and the car seats tell you this, is put a rear facing seat in with an air bag. When I put his seat in the car I ensured the LATCH system teathers were securly fastened to the back of the carseat. Then used the cinch device included with the seat and in the car. The carseat didn't move much and I felt comfortable and he enjoyed the ride. Hope this helps a little

Thats right no air bag on passenger side. I think its a general rule for front or rear facing. The type of crash and vehicles structure would have more bearing on it.
Hows the back seat of a converatble rated? Is the front seat of a vette more safe than the front of a Smart car, or the back seat of a mini. You decide on that one. What about pick ups?
If youve installed a starp then I'd really like to hear how.

I've none this in the past with my 89 (Before Air Bags)
I had Corbeau seats with the cut out for the racing harness and R&D Cross bar.
