C4 Lowering - Pics, Advice?
I'm considering lowering my car a bit. I don't want to drag my Corsa exhaust on the road or bottom out on bumps, just a little lower. If you have a pic of your car lowered can you post it along with what you did to lower it?
Thanks

If those pictures don't frighten you then go for it. If you don't have a lift then get the front as high as you can so the spring can come out.
I preferred the sawsall to the hacksaw. There are several threads on lowering if you search around.

I'm sure the answer to the above question is $$.
I dropped just the rear of my '88 about 1 1/4" to better fill the wheel wells; pics of the result on my site (click on Carlisle pics and my car is the end 35th).

I'm just curious how you guys don't bottom out everywhere after doing that?
I know of a few driveways, and speedbumps, around my area, that I can't drive over or in without hitting...

I know it's probably a negligible difference in anything but looks, but I have to ask a couple silly questions:
1. Is there anything to watch out for handling-wise? I've read that the rear was meant to be a fair amount higher than the front.
2. Could you tell a difference in the view over the hood?

i would also suggest cutting off the rubber stops on the end of the spring. i wish i would've it doesnt sit nearly as low as i'd like it. and after spending all that time taking it apart its pretty dissapointing. i heard after i did it to cut that out and place some rubber shims so it doesnt just sit on the control arm. maybe when i replace shocks i'll take lower arm off and cut the stops off. i'm just not taking out that spring again, what a pain!
i'll post some pics of mine when i get a chance.

I lowered my car for a couple reasons.
1. I raced the ZR-1 and I could get more camber in the the front.
2. She looks awesome on the ground. No more 4x4 look.
3. Lower center of gravity when hitting the turns on the track.
Taking the spring out wasn't hard. Just a little time consuming. The lift makes it a bit easier too. I didn't want to take the rubber off the end of the springs because I didn't want the car too low.
The car isn't any harder to drive around town then before. The same drives or speed bumps I avioded eralier (before she was lowered) I still avioded.
Hang on and I'll see if I can find some pictures of the car lowered.

this isn't best pic, it really doesnt give a good idea of wheel gap since there wasnt too much sun and car is dirty. i'll get better ones once it stops raining but it should give you an idea why i dont think its low enough.

dnut,
Looks low to me. The front is hard to tell since you have the wheel turned in a bit. You may need to drop the front a little or raise the back to get the front to look lower than the back. Then again, you may want the car to sit level and it may be good.
The thing I have seen is when the car is level just sitting there all is good. As soon as you jump in and maybe a passenger too, the back really squats. Then start romping on it a bit and the back is really low. Again, just my 2 cents in all this mombo jumbo.
