Permanantenna?
Are there any permanent/fixed antennas available for installation on C4's? The kind I'm thinking of are usually black and are about 3 to 4 inches high, and would go in the same place as the stock antenna mast.
Any such thing available for our beloved C4's?

Eclkers doesn't show anything.
What you have to do, if you want to make an aftermarket unit work, is ground it to the chassis. The assumption with regular cars, of course, is the metal body.

I guess that's why.. 'cuz i'd much rather have a low profile & subdued antenna than a 10 ft pole sticking up at the rear of my car.

good point about 10ft mast. there is a kit out there that has a override switch and one of the other threads a few days ago had someone that posted a well described process of installing it. this is in my case a perfect solution because i listen to cd's more so then radio. i get to jam alittle and not have the flag pole sticking up and keep the clean and un-cluttered apperance. it your avatar picture the one you want to do this too?

Custom Auto Sounds has a hideaway antenna.
Thought about plugging the antenna hole and using this instead.

just my .02 i would consider the hidden ant that was mentioned above. my reasoning is that you will still retain the clean look of the original design. plus the ant that you mentioned may intice some nuckle heads to rip it off. plus if resale, new buyers won't try to dock you for modified body panels.
then again..some member here will chime in and have some ideal that will blow us all away like the hidden ant.

Good points, and thank you for the compliment.
Of course, the last thing i need is someone tearing off my antenna , whether it's fixed or not... I would be very upset if that were to happen. I will definitely look into an internal/hideaway antenna, and possible look into a temporary solution like an antenna bypass. I listen to CD's and the radio fairly equally, so i'm not sure if its currently worth doing the antenna bypass.

easy fix
My electric antenna went south for the second time. So I put in a manual retracting antenna. It is the kind that stows flush and it works well even in the stowed position anywhere within the usual range of the stations. OK, so once in a while out on the open road I might have to pull it up. But there's nothing good out there anyway so I usually end up with the CD player anyway.

I have a short some where in the antenna of my VW Jetta (daily driver). The dealer said I was looking at about a $300 repair! 
I went to a local car audio shop to look at alternatives. They suggested the hide-away antenna, $75 installed. I decided to take the cheap route since "the Shretta" is my road warrior. The salesman hinted that the reception would not be as good as it was.
My review is fair to poor on the hide-away. The FM reception is about 80 to 90% of what it was before. Here in the city it's not bad, but you quickly lose reception as you move away from the city (and the transmitters). The AM reception SUCKS!, MAYBE 50% range of what I had before.
So if FM reception is your primary concern, go with the hide-away if you are looking for a cheapo option and live near the radio transmitters. If you like catching sports coverage and the the news on the AM stations, DO NOT DO THE HIDE-AWAY!
