Default Thinking about selling my corvette, how much is it worth?

Hello forum,

I made a big mistake when I tried to modify my car, being that its Smog **** California and I have a 406 carbed engine where a crossfire once was doesnt sit well with smog stations. I have completed this car near the end of 2003, drove it for about 6 months then smog came up and filed a non operation b/c I knew I had to figure out how I was going to smog it. So then I lost interest in it, then after a few months started working on it again, got new heads, installed those and then they started burning oil. Took the valve covers off and replaced the valve guide seals which took me 3-4 weeks to do being busy.

Afterwards I had alot of starter problems so I messed with that for a while then finally got a gear reduction starter. Then after a few more times I had to replaced the ignition system and went with a cheap ol points type, then back to HEI. All in all I had too much work into this car and I dont like the way it rides. Too many sqeeks, rattles, interior carpet is worn out, scratches, and has a th400 so no freeway cruiser. I have lost total interest in this and Im at a big loss.

So seeing my options, I can try to find a 84+ GM vehicle that has a 350 or 400 engine and try to put those emission equipment on the vette, take it to a referee and change the status and then pass smog. Or sell the car gutted, take the engine and possibly trans and buy an older car -75 maybe corvette, maybe not and swap that engine into it and not worry about smog and still have a good amount of power. Problem is how can I sell a non-operations corvette with no engine, how much would it go for?

The corvette has good metallic paint besides a scratch, 16inch aluminum wheels and glass top, other then that a typical 1984 corvette with 200,000 miles on the odo. What can I do.

Sell the top, wheels, whatever else you can unbolt on ebay for $800-$900, the sell the chassis and whatever's left on ebay for another $800. Same answer, maybe $1500. You could probably ebay it out of state for with the engine, get $4000 or so??? Just my thoughts.

You put yourself in a big hole. As it sits, it's not worth squat. You'd be better off backtracking and putting a smoggable replacement motor in and selling the 406 parts seperate.

hmm a conundrum.
could he put it on ebay and clearly state it will not pass a smog test?
whats the closest place that doesnt require smog testing?
one i know of is about 3500 miles away
seriously,if there is an area not to far from cali that doesnt require emisions testing someone might pay a decent price for it as is.
could be a good deal for both parties...
maybe list it as a race car?
you can always set a minimum bid and if it doesnt sell your not out much.

Default smog requirements

Many locations here in Oregon have no smog requirements. I live in Grants Pass just 60 miles north of Calif and we are smog requirement free..... for your info.....

I'm assuming you were called to a test only station? I believe you can file for a waiver if the cost to make it compliant exceeds 'X" amount. Check into it before you give up.

Now, about the 406...
