Dyed carpet black! It worked!
Yo, wud up peeps? So after doing some research over about a years time, i decided to go ahead and TRY to dye my brown carpets black. Well, I am obviously happy to let you all know that the darn thing worked!!! So here are some before and after pix. The car sat in the killer Hawaiian sun all day followed by me scratching, and rubbing white cloth all over the carpet to make sure it did indeed work. Sure 'nuff, here's the before & afters.....

Let's go for a spin, I'll show ya.
Nah, it's the switch for my strobe lights in the front. In case the cops don't notice my loud music, loud exhaust, red light running, or stop sign rolling......I use the strobes to wake em up.

Hey, sorry it took so long. So I went one step further for ya. Here's what the label looks like!!!! It's VHT Vinyl dye. I used Gloss black. Not sure what the difference would be between that and satin black, it's not like there's a glare on my floor or anything....who knows. But yeah.....expect to be high as a **** if you don't have your car completely opened up, outside, with a big fan blowing at ya. This stuff is potent. Takes about 36 hours for smell to die down. Keep windows open as much as possible, throw an air freshner in thur, and spray a bunch of Fabrese (C) and ya should be okay.

Hell yeah. I also used some quality Vinyl Dye spray and just spray painted my entire carpet with it. Did not even pull the carpet out of the car. It came out KILLER. Mine used to be faded out gray and now looks dark black like yours. It took me like two cans for the entire carpet. Total of $9.00 or so.
I'm just a cheap bastard that does not want to spend $300-$500 on a new carpet. My carpet was just faded, not torn or damaged.
This Vinyl Dye spray worked so damn good that I restored my old gray door panels and my door sills to a nice black finish with this spray also. For the doorpanels, I preped them for the Vinyl spray with some "Bulldog" adhesive spray and the results were spectacular. The paint just sticks on there. You can't even scratch it off!
I wish I had a digital camera to post some pics. For less than $30.00 I refreshed my entire interior carpet, both door panels, and both door sills, and looks new. The dye has held up well and it's been almost a year now. I could not even believe the difference.
Looks good. Matches your speaker box perfectly.
I used the Dupli Color brand that I picked up at my local Kragens. About $5.00 a can.

Looks great. I'd be interested in the long term durability.
How will it stand up to regular vaccum and/or some shampooing?

Just checked out VHT's site:

That stuff comes in a lot of colors! Maybe my saddle tan interior can be saved afterall - Thanks for the tip!

That looks awesome! Where do you get that stuff? I tried several things to dye my carpet, and I just ended up replacing it. I only have 1 piece yet to do on the passenger knee panel. If I could dye it, that would rock!
