Adding oil for auto-x?

Adding oil for auto-x?
I was told that I should fill my crankcase about 1/2 quart over full before an auto-x event (as extra insurance against a spun bearing). Anyone ever do this? Any thoughts/ recommendations?

Ive done it before a autox event weekend
