I completed the procharger install on my 86 and I have a gauge question. I bought the duel pillar mount and digital gauges to match the stock look. Where do you tap in the sending units????????
Re: Need help with boost and fuel gauge install (marks350)
Hi Mark,
Most people mount he fuel sensor on the schrader valve on the fuel rail. Mine is mechanical It comes off the schrader valve and I run it to a transducer that converts from fuel pressure and has glycol on the other side of the transducer to keep fuel out of the driving area and controls the guage. If it is electronic you would essentially do the same thing the difference is you would run wires rather than a "fuel" line...
The boost guage I run off the passenger side vaccum I tee it off where the fuel pressure vacuum line connects. That is also where vortech sugests puttlling vacuum for the bypass valve. I have the dual pod as well...
Re: Need help with boost and fuel gauge install (Mo_Bandy)
Thanks. Now for the next issue. The adapter I ordered from summit for the fuel gauge is the wrong thread to tap into my fuel rail. Summit's been great in the past but were stumped with this one. It's not a 1/16 NPT like they show. When you unscrew the schrader the threads are course.......??? I'll have to make some calls to the gauge companies , jegs, GM, NOS tomorrow to see if I can find out what the threads are. Or if they make an adapter that fits right onto the schrader without removing it. Now for the other problem. The digital electronic boost gauge sending unit has to be grounded to the motor through the threads of the sending unit. It only has a sending wire, so I can't tap into the hose....... The gauges are more trouble then installing the supercharger.
