My turbo has a 3" outlet I.D. and is a V-band clamp design. The outside is 3.5' and I don't know what size pipe to run or what clamp to buy. I want to keep back pressure low, so I thought maybe a 3.5 in pipe, but need to know if I will have to reduce it back to 3 in with a 3 in V-band clamp. If that makes sense, please leave me some info. I want to order soon and need help.
Re: Turbo exhaust flange and pipe questions. (ANTI VENOM)
is the v-clamp flange 1/4" thick? If you can weld the two togther then you should be fine, but getting an exhaust shop to make you a 3" to 3.25" piece shouldn't be a problem. You may have to get the 3" piece from somewhere though.
I was thinking of doing the same thing, and i'm going to try and just put the 3.5" over the v-band flange and weld it like so.
Re: Turbo exhaust flange and pipe questions. (mn_vette)
After doing some more research, it seems that there is a v band "transition" flange that will do what I want, but I have only seen them in smaller sizes. Basically, it would be a 3" v band clamp with a flange that would go inside of the 3 1/2" pipe to step up the pipe size. That's how I saw it anyway. I could still use help.

There is a national chain Called "Fleet Pride" Look in your phone book. Take it down there, they have stuff like that in stock and you can just try one until it fits. They have transitions that have divergent cones from the turbine outlet on a nice smooth angle into 3.5" At least at the One near me. But any tractor trailer supply store should have what your looking for. :reddevil
