Default 93 Pro Charger Install Help.

I am thinking of putting a ATI Procharger with Intercooler on my 93 396 LT1. I plan on lowering the compression via new AFR heads that bring my compression from 11.2 to 9.4 to 1 via larger chambers. Then I will need a Pro Charger, but what pulleys would I need to get at least 10psi-12psi, as my motor is modified. I have heard you need a smaller pulley as the ATI are designed for stock engines and when you port and polish, bigger cams etc on a motor, you loose boost due to more volume the charger needs to fill. Also, injector size and fuel pump.

You will not be able to attain 8-10 psi on a 6 rib belted LT1 with a stock ATI bracket and tensioner. Custom made ones are expensive even if you make them yourself. You might want to look into vortech's because I think ASP can make you a custom pulley to go 8 rib, but I'm not sure.

Trust me, we've all had to learn the hard way.

You might want to think about going with N20 or something and keeping the compression where you have it. It will be way less expesive too.

Listen to us Procharger owner about LT1 vettes. VVV90 is 100% right about you will not get 8-10psi of boost on the 396ci motor. I have been there on that road before. On 383/396LT1 for that matter the worse belt slipping you gonna get. The more powerful motor you have and the faster the belt will slip, it slip at the bottom of the crank pulley. There is NO easy way out. SOLUTION is custom 8rib setup is the least you gonna need to achive 8-10psi of boost. If you decide to do it any way with serpentine drive. All you get is disappointment especially you just sink in another $4500 for the blower and not able to make power you are seeking.

Thanks, I guess NOS is the Answer. Sure do love the sound of a blower. Too Bad no one makes a blower that goes where the manifold does, I have akeyed crank, and I am sure they can make a pulley that works for that type of blower.

Wow, well what to do? I have seen a Ford guy who had to put 2 tensioners on his 03 Cobra just to get more boost. What about a Cogged belt?

I wouldn't give up on the thought of a blower completely. I have a vortech T trim with my 377, I forgot what size pulley I have but I am getting 10psi of boost. My car is in the shop right now but when I find out I will let you know. I am new to the supercharger, but I haven't experienced any slippage with my system..or maybe I am just oblivious to it? You could always add nitrous on top of the charger, then I am sure you will see the boost level you are looking for.

Paul

The L98 car belt routing is completely different than the LT1. The 2 cannot compare. As you can see the pic I post above. People are call 8 ribs for LT1 setup. What it means? it means you will have a custom bracket, and a 8 ribs pulley and a 8 ribs belt by itself with it own idler pulley and it own tensioner. The ATI one long AZZZZ serpentine belt is ain't any good for you.

This is my custom cogged setup

10 to 1
7-8# of boost
dont drop the idea of a blower, just change it a little

Then add the 200 shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are considering the Vortech route, I am currently selling my complete Vortech LT1 package. Not only am I selling it with both a 6lb and 12lbs pulley, this particular kit has the 'proper' tensioner setup to eliminate slippage when running higher boost. As for the intercooler, I have a computer controlled water injection system. This way you have less boost losses then running through an intercooler and you can run alcohol in the water injection system for a little more pep. Here is the link to the charger:
