Default Belt tensioner, new belt, on D-1 3.7 pulley size

Hey guys

Some of you guys know that i have a D-1 with a 383. Well i did add 30# injectors and Black Bart told me to be cool and keep out of the boost till i get it tuned.

Well i could not handle it no more. i did dyno before 421 RWHP on 24# injectors and with 30 # injectors 500rwhp.(11psi) But since then i made a belt tensioner installed a Air/fuel gauge and new gator back belt.

Well i do a hot lap (w/my girlfriend and had her watch my air/fuel gauge) i am at a roll of 35 and in drive and start mashing the gas but not floor it because it will kick down into 2nd...so by 50 mph i am at 8psi (air/fuel looks fine) and then around 5200rpm i look over and see 11psi (that pretty normal) and i stay on it at 52500 all of a sudden it shoots to 15 psi  and my car pulls like a mad man to 6200rpm at 120mph! :D

So all in all my new belt/ injectors/ belt tensioner is making 15psi on a 3.7 pulley on my D-1...does that sound right????

I might have to go back to my 4" pulley to make my 11psi! i mean dont get me wrong 15psi felt so nice but i want my motor to last!

i am just wondering has anyone made 15psi on a d-1 with a 3.7 pulley????

I can't speak for the 3.7" pulley but I made 19 psi with a 3.4" blower and a 7.6" crank pulley on my old 383 while bypassing my intercooler.

Brand-X,
Was that an aftermarket crank pulley. I understood the factory pulley was 7.2". Any problems with clearance between a larger crank pulley and the K member (cradle)?

Thanks,
Aaron

Krivera,
It didn't last...I eventually cracked a ring land on a piston. I was running the 28cc dish JE pistons.

AKS,
7.6" is about as big of a pulley as you can get that will clear. I had a guy named Lee at ASP make the pulley for me...he pressed a sleeve on the inside area of the crank pulley and then cut 8-ribs on it.

Lee at ASP is about 5 miles from my work. He is also the guy who made the 8 rib L-98 set-up. Great guy with a lot of talent.

Aaron

So you are saying "Lee" at ASP makes an 8-rib system for the L-98's that wont hit the cross member?
