Default Magnusons new blower

Suposidly Magnuson is releasing a blower kit to fit the 5.7 F and Y bodies. But they didn't say if its going to fit the L98 or LTx series engines.....

Hi Tom. When does boost come on with these blowers. Is it sooner than our Vortech and Prochargers? Also does it run out of steam at higher rpms? Also on a personal level, thanks for all the advice you have given me responding to my emails. :)

The Magnusons are a Roots type blower, which means that it is a positive displacement blower. They create boost a considerably lower RPM than your typical centrifugal blower. The main reason is that a centrifugal blower is more like a fan rotating inside a housing where a roots type has a set of lobes that interacts with one another like a set of gears that push the air into the engine.

Roots and screw type blowers are also what is often refered to as "fixed displacement" blowers. This means that for every revolution the blower displaces X amount of air normally expressed as liters or cubic inches. Centrifugal units are not fixed displacement blowers. Roots and screw types are great for trucks because the create boost at a much lower RPM than a its centrifugal cousin. Low RPM torque and power is what a truck enthusist look for.

Interesting :skep: If I were going the blower route, I'd still rather have a Vortech T or YS trim setup :yesnod:

And even though I work at Eaton, I still can't get an employee discount. :-)
