Re: can an 4l60e tranny handle a 150 shot of nitrous (CorvettemanLT1)
If you hit the nos right after you shift into second gear you will be fine. Much less stress on the transmission. It will also depend on your tires and how hard you grip. If your tires are spinning it will not hurt anything except the rubber. When it grabs with alot of torque it will put stress on your tranny and gear box. It will only take so much for so long. Beef it up now or later your choice if you are running high torque with drag slicks..

I have been lucky but I do not slam on her very ofter only during grudge matches... I only lit up the 150 w/heater(1100 psi) two weeks ago... I was told by a member of our little club that a blown mustang had been talking trash.
I really thought I would lose but I wanted to give him a good race. Well, the drag radial were set low for maximum grabbing at 15psi... Purged the unit... warmed the tires and setup on 1500rpm. She actually launched 4 cars out the hole ..Then broke traction :yesnod:  at second gear. I pointer her in the right direction and she just pulled like a "bull-ox on fire" all the way. the guys said they had not seen a launch that violent in a long time.
