Default Turbo motors and boost controllers - any experience?

I have a 1990 Callaway Twin Turbo that I am considering putting a boost controller on.

I am having trouble controlling the boost and severe backfiring is occurring. The engine is "mildly" modified and I am running 15-17psi of boost on my chassis dyno.

The car is emissions legal with cat's and a full exhaust system. My best numbers so far are 609.1hp and 723.7tq at the rear wheels.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone with boost controller experience.

By the way, are there any other Callaway owners out there? I bought this car new in 1990 and it has only got 1770 miles on it!

Might try posting this on the ZR1 section. There's a few Callaway guy's there that can help you out.
PS , From experience...back-firing - lotsa boost = trouble.
good luck

I sent you an email... check any "Turbo" magazine.. Greddy, HKS and Apex come to mind. In order to use one of these, the manual spring loaded wastegates of the original Callaway turbos will have to be updated to be boost/vacuum controlled units...

I have had a turbo charged car in the past and pretty much all my friends have turbo charged cars these days. I am by no means an expert but here is my opinon. You have an extremely nice car with alot of money invested it seems. Definetly get an electronic boost controller. Yes they may be expensive but the are a lot more accurate then they manual boost controllers. On my last car i had a Apexi Super AVC-R. I personally loved it. it cost around 400 dollars or so but it was great. Even if apexi doesnt not have a wiring diagram for your car, i seriously doubt they do, try contacting a local shop that has experience installing them to see what they can do.
