Default ATI Intercooler do you need to cut the radiator shroud?

Well, Im home and getting ready to install the ATI Intercooler. after I move the MSD and Carroll supercharging "stuff". It (intercooler)came with no mounting instructions or hoses. ATI doesn't provide near the documentation that Vortech does.

It seems to me that I would need to cut through the radiator shroud ( beneath where the old air Cleaner was residing) to allow more air to pass through the intercooler. Can anyome tell me does this thing just float or were there mounts for this as well? Sorry for all the questions.. But I paid $1100 for a "polished intercooler" for a Corvette, and by golly...thats ALL I GOT! Except for a hand full of peanuts....

If any one could provide me with a little information I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance...

Mo

Go to these two links. They have an install of a 3-core I/C on a Camaro/TA.
They may help.

I don't know how much use they are, but it should let you know, you will need to at lease see I/C mount brackets are needed. You will have to fabricate or order the I/C mounting brackets for your year model vette.

Good Luck

on my 85 the intercooler has brackets that attach to the hood hinge bolts and the intercooler hangs off of them, they are just straps and would be easy to make, also a new shroud was part of my kit

yes you will need to cut a rectangle for 6" x 13 1/2" for the intercooler. I use a air grinder to cut. The manual say use a knive, yeah right. Also, there is NO bolts to hold it down. The reason you need to cut the shroud so that the air can enter thru the intercooler. Good luck

Thank you everyone for the info this far...Ihave been spending time plumbing the hoses. :smash: I'm looking forward to the results...

Does anyone know what the hoses and stuff cost from ATI if purchased separately?

Thanks again

On the kits, ATI includes a new top shroud made from 1/16" alum. The intercooler is underneath this, in front of the radiator, hanging from those straps mounted under the hood hinge bolts. You do need to keep things sealed to force the air thru the intercooler and radiator.

Thanks everyone. It looks like I have things straightened out with Superchargers online. They ordered the proper stuff but ATI supposedly shipped the wrong things... basically the righ intercooler with no plumbing. So, the parts are on there way... I'll keep ya'll posted... Thanks everyone for you input thus far...
