Hi folks, gotta rant and ask a couple questions here. Has anyone had crappy parts from NOS? This is my experience;
(1) Bought a kit from NOS in Dec and two of the fittings were not drilled/relieved to accept the pipe fittings. A call to the tech dept got me two new (correct) fittings with a statement that their machining processers made a mistake. System's in now and working fine.
(2) Bought an NOS pressure gauge kit and installed per instructions. The pipe thread to gauge ftg would not seal (yes I used the thread sealer recommended). Seemed like the tapered section was wrong somehow. Exchanged for another kit and while it leaked less, it still leaked. Pissed off now, so I returned it. Lotsa pain for nothing. Did not call NOS.
(3) Got tired of cracking the line up by the carb so I decided to buy a NOS purge kit. (I know). Well the damn purge adapter ftg would not allow the AN side of the fitting to seat. I called NOS. The tech says "machining error" again and that the female side was drilled too deep. We'll send you a correct one. WTF??!! I didn't want to wait, so I go to the local rod shop and buy the adapter. I measure and it looks good. Go home, hook it up and both sides of the ftg (AN) leaks! Man-o-man. It's going back today and I will never buy from NOS again!! The original system is in and works fine but what is with the accessories? Their quality in the machining process sucks IMO.
Anyone have this much trouble with their stuff?
My solenoids work great, it's the pipe fittings that suck. I did find a local shop that got me great machined fittings and I'm feeding the engine enough 'crack' to keep a huge grin on my face. I'm also working this weekend so's I can get a couple tires...... :jester
