I must first admit that I am very confused as to how I should spend my money on my 94 LT-1. I am interested in spending some money to make this car as fast as possible, with some ideas in mind.
First of all, you should know, this is a car that is driven to and from work once or twice a week. Maybe, 3-4K miles per year.
About two weeks ago i decided to put a PROcharger on the car. After calling them and getting the info about local qualified installers, I found there was only one shop locally that they prescribed. It was a place called Turbo Connection in Edwardsville Illinois. After talking to the tech there, he had me sold, until i got his bid that is. The bid ca,e back at just over 9,200.00$$ There was quite a few things he was doing, Ie new injectors, wires, plugs, supercharger, labor and a few others....but I thought his price was a bit high. Anyway, I was still willing to pay it. I have since talked to a few people that have tried to convince me not to Supercharge, rather do other things to the car for performance gains. Things like Headers and Cams...etc...Anyway, I also ran into someone that had done business with the place in Edwardsville, and was VERY dissapointed. Not so much with the charger, but with the price the guy charged and with the parts he put on. Supposedly he used bottom of the barrel supplies for everything, and did not do what the customer had expected.
Now I am stuck, should I supercharge, should I steer away from a supercharger and go with new headers and Cams..and some others or what. What kind of performance gains could I really expect out of just adding a top end set of headers and Cam...and whats the cost along those lines? Any help would be greatly appriciated, as I am very lost now....just when I thought I knew what I wanted...lol
Are there other sperchargers out there better than the PROcharger for the LT-1...or if I go that route, stay w\PROcharger....I know there's a lot of stuff in this post,....sorry,a s I just coldnt stop asking questions...thanks for any advice!!!
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (Smoked14)
The Procharger is a good choice. The best Procharger installer/dealer in the country is in Lake Bluff IL. I have been dealing with them for 12 years now and if I lived closer they would do all my work. Larry at ASSC Racing is my main contact 847-473-4720.
Good luck with what ever choice you make. As a Procharger owner, and "other" blower owner I can say that at this time the best choice is Procharger.
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (Blown Vette)
Hello, I am new to the board. I have put the procharger with the intercooler on my 86 vette and so far the car rocks. Gives it the extra power that it needed. The price seems kind of steep. Ipaid $3,200 for the kit and 800 to install. I did much of the work myself though. The next thing I want to do is fit 6speed in place of the 4+3.
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (GRX)
Hey Smoked, I have heard the exact same thing about Turbo Connection. I wish I knew of another shop I could recommend. The only person I would recommend is die-hard Ford man that works on lots of the local mustangs for cheap, but I'm not sure if he would touch a chevy other than those of good friends. But he has done more than a few blower installs, and might do one on my friends dad's 01 C5. Do ever cruise or hang out anywhere? Maybe we could meet up.
Hey Blown, your setup sounds awesome, how much boost and compression are you running? Any idea what kind of power it makes?

hey Keith, I live in Bethalto IL. Not sure if you know where that is, but Id be happy to meet up with you sometime....maybe over a burger and fries to vette talk...I can do that all day long-=) Anyway, drop me a line...here's my email add:
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (Smoked14)
Go with the intercooled Procharger!!! It is awesome. It gave my car the power they said it would. I do not have any Dyno #'s yet, but I am sure they will be in the low to mid 400's at the rear wheels. Call mike at superchargers4less.com he is the cheapest anywhere. Mike has awesome tech support.
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (Smoked14)
oh i forgot that sounds steep!i would say 4k for the D-1 polished and then 1000-1500 for install is about right? 800$ is super good price and to be honest the install is not that bad! :D i have taken mine off and on like 2 times already to keep it pretty
Re: Supercharger ...Go with Procharger or otherwise? (krivera)
Smoked,
Actually I have a vortech, hoever I've found that the intercooling that a procharger has is a major plus... aside from thenm being slower tha molassas in January, they make quality parts. I waited 8 weeks for the intercooler and I'm still waiting for the hoses....
I installed my supercharger myself, and it has been quite the project. Although onceit was finished I'm very confidant working on and around it.In any event, do what you feel is the way to go.. I lve the grunt low end that the supercharger gives , and I don't have to worry whether the bottle is full. Tha is my humble opinion. Like others in the thread have mentioned perhaps the drive to a decent place is well worth it... rather than having a perspective problem on your hands...
