Default supercharger help

Does anyone know of a twin screw supercharger system for an 87 L98. Spoke with the folks at Whipple. They do not have a system for my application.

Seems like some of the companies only have systems starting with the 1988.

Thanks

Carroll Supercharging Company is what you want: http://www.carrollsupercharging.com/ . You should go with a centrifugal design blower...much more efficient than ANY other design (for automotive purposes). Good Luck! :chevy

Thanks for the info. I have looked into the Carroll website. Might be my only choice. Really wanted the Whipple type more for the aesthetics and low end torque. Gives a pretty good HP increase, and no lag. Oh well  If something else doesn't crop up guess I'll be lookin' into the Carroll unit anyway.
Thanks again for the information.

Why does it work for an 88 and not an 87?

Beats the heck outta me  That was all I saw on the Whipple web site...started at 1988 and went up from there. The rep from Whipple said 1) they do not make a set up for my application citing a too high compression ratio, and
2) They do not do custom applications
Oh well...have spent the last hour or so looking over the Carroll site. Looks like it may be my best bet for all around performance/drivability. Just kinda wanted the "blower" look...asthetics.. :D

Isn't it your compression ratio 9 or less with iron heads? Later cars switched to aluminum heads and ran even higher (my 89 had 9.5:1).

I'd check back with their tech people- If that's the only issue, I don't see why can't run a Whipple with 5-6 psi of boost. ATI makes intercooled kits and lists the same one for all 85-91 L98 vettes: www.procharger.com

But if your CR is too high for a Whipple, it's too high for any centrifugal blower also...

Some of the '86 corvettes had aluminum heads. 87+ had aluminum.

STREETNIGHT,
Go with centrifugal, much easier of an install and the efficiency is MUCH better. Whichever you choose, be sure to get an air/air intercooler for it to get a little more out of the boost (colder intake allows you to run a little more boost).
