Default procharger on L98 questions ?

Has anyone bolted on an ATI procharger with an intercooler on a L98 with no other, or only minor modifications? Is it advisable to do so without other mods? Were there significant performance gains? Was it worthwhile, worth the money? I ask this because my '85 engine is stock and I like the idea of the supercharger.

Hi There L8C4 !!!
I sell what you want so be wary - LOL !!! Seriously you can bolt on a 100 HP no problem. However most packaged S/C kits do not address all the issues. In particular your "chip" will restrict the amount of fuel you can add regardless of injector size: hence the FMU. Next most kits do not include a "chip" to dial in the correct spark curve.

You can address the above with new "chip" that has the PW cap removed, new MAF sensor to resolve the Bosch MAF restrictions, new fuel pump, new injectors, new plugs, and a few other things and all will work well.

You are going to have to spend 5 to 7K to do it right and not "crack a piston" as most newbies do.

Best regards, greg

Please explain this - I haven't heard of a good MAF solution for 86-89 cars. The Ford or PMAS that tequilaboy is running on a different ECM channel comes closest, but I'm curious if there's something else out there.

If you're interested in a procharger I have a compete used kit and am interested in selling it. It would reduce your total output to close to a 1/3 of the price to go new. Dual intercoolers, guages, higher output fuel pump, etc, etc, all included.

Hi '89' !!!
TequilaBoy and I have hooked up to market his solution to the Bosch MAF. Additionally TequilaBoy found the PW cap in the 86-89 eprom after I alerted him to the issue. The 1990/91 Corvette has the same PW cap problem and I "hired" 'Bad69RS' to find that fix for me. It is awesome engineers like TequilaBoy and Bad69RS that have made it possible for me to market S/C kits that actually work - LOL !!!
