Default Raptor/STS Rear Mount Turbo update/Pics

Last items to complete are the instruction manual (which is about 95%) and a test fit on a six speed car...

It looks great. Is there any reason that it would not work with long tube headers?

The head pipe assy is made to fit to the cast iron exhaust manifolds. However, there is no reason it couldn't be modified by the customer to fit up to the header collector. Shouldn't be a difficult fab job to do.

Do you have a pic of the rear with the car on the ground? Looks like a pretty straight forward install.

Remember that you have to sneak the intake piping up past the passanger side manifold. Longtubes may not allow this or may have to be re-routed.

Also, Don't forget to buy some kind of exhaust tips. Those plain pipes sticking out the back are lacking in luster. Are the pipes stainless that you could pollish up? If not are they going to be coated to prevent rusting?

Yes, sneaking the pipe past the longtubes will need require more fab work but nothing that would be too extensive.

The entire system is stainless so you may Polish to your hearts desire. Tips are going to be an option...

Looks good, Ron.

I agree about the tips...fortunately if you go to Jegs or Summit Racing, there are a million options available.

I have the rear mount turbo car that Forum member "Bruce" used to own.
Anyways, he used to have shorty headers on it, but had started switching back to exhaust manifolds.
The reason being, keeping gaskets on them is a pain with boost...

The dyno on the stock 103k mile motor with 8lbs of boost was 408 rwhp and 437 rwtq. Not too bad...

Are there any plans in the works to setup a built engine car with a bigger turbo?

If you do an L98 kit, consider a mirror image set-up with the discharge tube running up the driver's side.

In this manner it could be easily adapted for use with any centrifugal supercharger making for a 2 stage turbo-supercharged set-up. Think P-38 or P-47. A corvette with a 30,000 ft ceiling would be pretty cool.

We'll leave that to you guys. We just provide the tools.

We've spent so much time & money to get this far we'll probably have to sign up for "Pinks" to get even.

Seriously, we don't have any plans to build an all-out car. The reason is simple & straight-forward. The 95 LT1 is going to be our mule-demo-daily driver example. We believe the largest segment of customers will be those who want to install it on a stock engine and quit there. it's been demonstrated on our 100K 95 to be reliable & driveable with over 6,000 miles driven during development.

We all know that those factors begin to deteroiorate when more radical performance enhancements are applied and the horsepower goes up. I have a 640Hp ZR-1, normally aspirated. It's a blast to drive....for a little while. It sounds great & runs great, but it's no grocery getter.

The 95 LT1 turbo car is an absolute blast to drive. Not too loud, easy to pedal around town and a real kick in the pants when the right foot twitch goes off. Drives like a stocker, runs like a C5 ZO6 at 8lbs boost. I've had friends drive it who own ZR-1's and are very impressed.

Are the plans for this kit to do away with the cat, as the car pictured?

No, not at all. The catalytic converters are in the photo. They are visible in the 3rd photo, forward of the trans pan. The system comes with new, metallic substrate convertors.

What are you doing for tuning and fuel for this kit? What is included or suggested, bigger injectors, programmer (chip for 92-93 cars)? Anything else that will keep it safe and a daily driver. The overall kit looks great.
