Default How much interest in head / cam swap write up?

We are going to be doing a cam / head swap on Brian's NEARLY stock 92 in the next few weeks.

Under hood the only existing mods that would make this any different are the lack of the emissions system and stock manifolds. The swap is going to include camshaft / lifter replacement, head swap, late model opti conversion, electric water pump conversion and wiring, and clutch replacement.

I've done these things several times to the point that I can almost do them in my sleep. If there is any interest I'll try to take pictures and write a detailed report. If you guys are satisfied with the existing web pages, I won't bother.

It's up to you guys, just let me know.

I was actually thinging about that today! I would be absolutely THRILLED if you wrote this. I'll be doing this swap within the next six months and I'll need some good instructions similar to the ls1how-to ones for the C5.

I think it would be a great idea. I also think it would enable more people to attempt it on their own as they would have a step by step example to follow. If you ever stroke a motor do the same as i'm a little scared of trying that on my own.

if you want, we can do it for C4guru... then it would be in neat PDF format with pictures and stuff.

I'm sure there are many here who would benefit from it.

I'm almost there with the parts to do the same thing. Two more pay checks and I'll have everything, heads, cam, intake, etc. Just don't tell anyone. I would also appreciate another guy's input on this upgrade. With the talent here on this forum, I think it would be cool to produce a video showing how to do this.

Do it!! Then we can make it a Sticky.
I am gathering parts now for the same. I am planning on taking it to a pro to do, but if it doesn't look to bad, and it is a detailed report,I might try myself. Try to list how long it takes to do a task, like "install cam" = 1 hour, etc. and how long for the whole project.

Do it Nathan. You have a very informative website and a way of explaining things so I understand it.

I have to agree. Even if I never actually do the job myself, it would be great to see exactly what's involved.

PLEASE!!!!! I have gone as far as removing the heads, but did not venture further. I was just not able to go as far as the cam. In hind site I should have as I was there (new springs, valve guides, valves, and heads massaged). I just didn't trust myself that far.??? No pics on how to raise motor, so cam clears frame....etc.

There aren't a lot of options out there in the LT1 arena. I'm not completely sold on AFR's quality. I would suggest a good ported set of stock ported LT1 heads or ported LT4 heads.
