Default c-4 horsepower vs c-5

How is it that the c-5 crowd is consistently making 600 and 700 rwhp with the same mods or simular than we are.........same or lower boost.
I lurk over there and am amazed at what there making.......are the tuners fudging the dyno numbers?..........seems like *MOST* here are in the 500's with simular mod's and boost....I'm taking pump gas 93 octane.....maybe I need to crank up the cr to 10.5 to start up with.....I drove on a cruise last week with a c-5 laying down 550 rwhp with only 4 psi boost.....by the way his head unit said carroll supercharging(didn't know they made one)...........there's one forsale in the c-5 section that claims 850 rwhp on pump gas......whats better in there systems than are's.

It is really tough to beat out those LSx engines, mod for mod we LTx and L89 guys is one step behind. A typical LSx with ported heads, cam and LT header will easily make 400 t0 420 at the wheels on my mustang dyno. And this is to say that the cam isn't that big, we are talking about something in the 224 to 228 range of duration with high 500 lift numbers. Their heads create amazing power, and that is where their power comes from.

Glens car made 616 at the wheels and nearly 600 ft/lbs. This is with a 12 PSI of boost, Meth injection, and a 383 with AFR CNC ported 210s, ported LT4 intake, and a fairly large custom cam with 234 degrees of intake duration. The car also has a full three inch BB system with CATs and my X pipe, the spent gases are expelled through a set of TPIS headers. You do the same thing to a LSx engine and I can almost gurantee you that it will make more power, and its just their head design. I know I could have squeezed a bit more out of Glens engine, but it would have been on the edge or near it. I want this to last and even if he is missing 10hp at 6000 RPM, I doubt at that level anyone could ever know it was missing.

10 hp, man if I knew that, I wouldn't have taken the car !!!!

Just Kidding - Tom the car drove great - despite my two punctured tires - decided to stay the night in Westly, Ca.

Anyway - Wanted to give my thanks to Tom and Greg and everybody else that pitched in when Tom was fixing my car.

It turned out beautiful - you wouldn't believe how meticulous Tom is - Top Notch ! - If this was Ebay - I would buy again.

Basically, Tom built my engine - had my shop install it - they screwed it up - Tom took it in - fixed their mess - wouldn't let go of it until everything was perfect.

Thanks again !

Already plan on having Tom build my next project.

Callaway got ~750hp on pump gas and I *think* ~1100hp on race gas from their C4 Super Speedsters (and the one regular bodied TT ZR-1)

I saw a stock '01 in the shop the other day with a procharger and No other mods. This was an automatic and it pulled strongtly to 6500rpm and produced over 600 rwhp. The torque was however in the mid 400's. This was with 7 lbs boost. It took me about 9 years and much frustration and $$$$$ to hit 594rwhp with my C4. At least with my next toy the $$$ won't have to go into the motor. Probably not before 20,000 miles.

I agree the LSx platform is simply just a superior canvas to start with compared to the LTx motors with exception of the LT5 which is still lightyears ahead of the pushrod LS motors.. given the opportunity, I would love to do a turbo on an LT5 and will be my next goal once I am satisfied with my LT4 collectors edition turbo build....I am pumped!

If you decide to do a twin turbo LT5 give me a shout.

it's an expensive proposition but the car will rock.

my LSV makes 505 rwhp and is "tame" compared to some of the other LT5 strokers. that being said, the LS7 has MUCH better flowing heads/intake and is much cheaper and easier to make HP.

but the LT5 still is a great engine and very durable.

My 2000 Z28 puts out 388hp & 380tq to the wheels... oh, & it is an A4 with a 323 gear.

The LS1/6 are awesome motors as previously stated.

My current mod's are as follows..
Comp Cam 232/236 595 601 114+4
LS6 Block/intake
ported TB
Comp 918 springs
lid/powershot filter
Pacesetter lontubes
True duals- out the back
Yank SY3500 stall (Tq converter)
ASP underdrive pulley
HP tuners to tune it all up...

I also have a set of LS6 heads ( not on the car) that i am sending off to have ported/polished..

These are great cars... Mine is a daily driver with 207K on the clock

Sensible driving gets me 20mpg...

I still love the Corvette though...! Nothing compares IMO!!

Well this is another related topic. Why is it that Camero guys with LT1 motors are getting much more power? I post in the tech section about getting 500HP from 383, etc and most prople say it's a stretch but for many Camero guys it's quite popular.

First off, it's spelled Camaro. A Camero is a type of shrimp.

That's just the crowd you run into on the Corvette forum. There is less than a dozen 400+ RWHP NA LT1's on this site, and none of them are stock displacement. On www.cz28.com 400+ RWHP LT1's with the stock bottom end are pretty common. A friend of mine is making 343 RWHP with a 95 LT1 Firebird. His mods are home ported heads LT1 heads and FLP longtubes. That's it. Stock cam, stock throttle body, etc... On this forum those numbers are impossible. Definitely check out the F-body sites if you wanna build power and don't have an unlimited budget.
