Default Old paxton superchargers owners, question for you!

Hi everybody!
I have a 91 vette A4,but a friend of mine has another one of the same year,he took off the paxton supercharger, and want to sell me the kit,he said that is only the supercharger unit, bracket, hoses, and filter, does anyone knows if that old model comes with injectors???
another question,is it worth it??he ask for $1500!!

I have the accel intake and manifold on my car,TC,no smog pump, headers, magnaflow exhaust, pressure reg,and i want to know if that old SC makes lot of change on the car!

does anyone knows if theres an intercooler for that paxton??

Thanks a ot guys for the help!!!

If it is an old SN series with the ball drive then I would not buy it.

This is the new 'good' paxton with a gearbox.

On the old one the pulley and the impeller looks like they are on the same shaft. It uses a planetary friction drive, almost like a large ball bearing.

This is the 'old' bad unit.

And this is the rebuild kit with the ball drive:

I don't see a problem with the old SN series blowers. I just bought a unit for my 86 with the meth injection. Do a search here in the forum on the old Paxton's. I've actually read that they are more reliable than the newer gear driven compressors (Paxton is now owned by Vortec). There are positives and negatives to both units...just do some research and then decide. My kit came with the compressor, brackets, tubing, vacuum lines and the gaseous intercooler and I paid more than that. Greg at Blowerworks seems to still think highly of the old units. He does recommend adding 24lb injectors and such now (those weren't included in his original Carroll kits), but it really depends on what kind of boost you will be running.

price the new units/kits and see for yourself if 1500 is a good deal. Gaseous intercooling is the way I would go for intercooling if the boost is not too high but I'm not experienced here, I'd ask Greg at blowerworks. Mine is an SN89 and is not a problem.

The SN93 is the model number. You don't not blindly change the pulley on Paxton, it does not like to be over Rev. You need to calculate the RPM in reference to the max rpm you will rev the engine to, Crank Pulley, SC pulley and internal gearing (I don't remember the internal gearing, I want to say 4.4:1). You will need to compare that to the maximum RP of the SC (I want to say 39000 rpm, but I am going off 3 year old memory, so I am not 100%)

Most likely if its off a Corvette and pushing 6psi that is what it will do. To get more boost you will need to have it rebuilt with a highout impellor which w/o any changes adds about 2-3 psi.

Yeah, the SN series do NOT like to be overdriven. they are 4.4:1 ratio, and with stock pulleys on the car and the paxton should not be driven higher than 5500rpms or so..

The paxton I had was an sn60r older real paxton unit and I was running 9psi at 5200rpms on my superrammed 350. It was FUN.. Until I spun a bearing.. lol Guess 121k miles and many, MANY runs at the strip and on the street was just too much for the stock internal engine.

Ok this SC seems to be the option to work in conjuction with my superram!!!!
i think 6PSI will be safe for all the mods on the stock internals,i hope this thing push a few HP's that feels on the runs!!
