Default Procharger front mount IC guys please chime in ...

For those of you running the front mount procharger...

Looking at buying a kit that is for the 85-89 L98s. The kit comes with a front mount IC. I understand that the radiator angle is different in the 90-91 cars. My question is how much trouble is it to make that IC work in a 91. Is it a matter of new pipes or do all new mounts need to be made? Lets hear your horror stories.

Thanks

Don't bother. PITA.

IF you have to do it get the 85-89 radiator assembley for your car or get the right I/C for your car. The twins for your car leave a bit to be desired though.

good luck

Do the twins leave a bit to be desired because they are harder to install or because they do not work as well as a single IC?

Mostly install. I think they both work close to the same on stock cars.

I tried to do the exact same thing (85-89 kit in a 90) & after a few weeks of test fitment decided to prototype a direct air tube w/ Greg Carroll (Hi Greg!) and use his alc injection instead of the IC.

The only way I could see to make the single front mount work would be to use 2.5 or 3" alum tubing & over the top of the radiator. You would still have to flatten/oval the tubes at the top of the radiator housing/support as the hood only has about 2.5" of space & you will want some clearance. I used some modeling clay to get those figures on my car.

You would also have to cut/cover the openings in the rad. support after you got your air lines routed. Vette2Vette was going to sell me a used for about $65 or so that I was going to use instead of cutting up my good one.

There just isn't any room to get down the front of the engine after the compressor & belts are installed with the single larger air tubes. I'm pretty sure that is why ATI did the 2 smaller IC units for our years....

Good luck!!
