So... how much noise does your compressor make?? I just fired my install up for the first time on Sat. & well... that thing makes quite a bit of noise on that side of the car. I'll have to check it w/ the hood closed but that will have to wait a few days.

I think it varys from unit to unit, on mine you can hear it with the hood closed.

Poeple look at my car and hear the whine and i can almost see it in there faces, "there is something very wrong with that car"

So can you describe the nose a little better. I get the whine of the gear case but I also can almost hear metalic sounds of the fan itself as it is SO close to touching the case...

All the D1's I've heard have a whine with a sort-of rock-crushing/grinding gear noise. The V1 Vortech head units have a similar sound.

V2 Vortechs and Paxton Novi units, on the other hand, are fairly silent.

The D1s are quite noisy along with the P1s, but the P-600Bs are the worst.

D1Rs are pretty quite. I like them!

But the D2R is pretty dang noisy. These are cool too.

Okay... I'm feeling a little better because that rock crusher/ringing sound of the fan is a little disconcerting for a novice. Of course I had my head right there trying to isolate it & make sure I'm getting oil etc.

Mine seems to be much noisier when the engine is cold. As soon as it warms up it just sounds more like a jet....
