Default Question re: John Meany's Big Stuff3

I have an 85 which has been highly modified. It's now a 383 stroker with the 5-speed Keisler and running about 500 horses. I've been thinking about having the Big Stuff3 Force Fuel Injection engine management system installed into the car. Do any of you guys know much about this system?

How much of an improvement in power, response, etc., do you think I will notice? I know that with this system, you can program exactly what you want and when you want it to happen. I'm just wondering if the expense is justified.

Thanks for any advice.

Depending on your combo, your results could vary in terms of gains over a stock ECU. There are other reasons to look at an aftermarket ECU (BS3, FAST, DFI etc)

- On demand changes
- Automatic learning/self-tuning modes
- Closed Loop WOT
- Sequential Injection
- Wide Band O2 feedback

The aftermarket systems can made very radical combos pretty streetable and in some cases will approach OEM driveability. I am running a FAST on my 396 and have it programmed to OEM like driveability even with an aggressive cam and AC. I have been very impressed with my FAST system.

The thing that would influence my decision is the plugin harness that you'll need to get that ECU working with your stock guages. Not sure what is available for the BS3, but Fast Track Performance makes some of the nicest harnesses that I've seen (FAST and ACCEL) which piggyback the aftermarket ECU with your stock ECU so that all of your guages are 100% functional. It adds a level of cost to the solutiuon, but the stock look and function of your guage cluster goes a long way in my book.
