Default Where Did all the horsies go?????

I took the toy (93LT-1) into the shop in early June. Got it back in early August. Added a huge blowoff valve and a Delteq ignition. After 3 weeks of trouble shooting the Delteq an arrangement was reached. For those of you "in the business" Delteq now has available for the LT-1/4 a magnetic crank trigger application. My car was used as a test bed to develop the system.

However, I've seen a drop in horsepower/torque probably unrelated to the change. At 5500rpm I've dropped from 594rwhp to 554. Torque dropped from 599 to 557.

A/F is a steady 12.5. Fuel pressure steadily climbs from 40 to 60 lbs .Blower pressure is a little over 14lbs. I had some belt slippage and replaced the belts and gained a lb. of boost.

Power falls off starting slowly@ 4000rpm thru 5500rpm.

My mechanic who's been doing this for 42 years seems to think I may have damaged the torque converter.

I'd like to get that torque back. The car idles well and runs fine. Any thoughts???

what kind of converter are you running?

There is probably nothing wrong.

You have to realize different dynos or even the same dyno on different days will produce different results.

If you are running a non lock up converter, that will cause very inconsistent numbers for a dyno. When I was auto and running a non lockup converter the numbers would be all over the place.

is the crank trigger available to the public yet? I spoke with Pete a couple of weeks ago and all he said was they where working on it. I would love to say later to the whole opti situation. Also does it work with the existing Delteq and is it available as an upgrade?

I neither own or am employed by Delteq. As a result you should consider dealing with Pete. I'm sure Delteq is considering production costs and determining a price point. For that matter demand may not be sufficient to offer the product to market.

Hey RVY!

Could it be possible switching to the DElteq system that maybe there is something that changed in your timing from your previous ignition? Maybe like the advance curve has changed? ~just a though~

Are you running an automatic?

~regards

Mo

JFYI I called Delteq and they stated this is not an Opti replacement and not available at this time. About the only thing they would say is that it is not going to be used as an Opti replacement, something about other applications where the Opti signal has problems, and that it is still in the prototype stage. They have been in prototype stage for over two years that I know of so I would not hold my breath that this will be coming out any time soon to the general public.
