Default How much does it run to have a vortech (satin finish) polished up

what do shops charge to do this? Or should I send it to vortech(they're local).

do it yourself, everything you need is at sears. I use my 5" grinder for most things that can't be brought up the the bench grinder.
2-3 wheels: a flap wheel, a sisal buff or two
Then you'll need a stick of emery, stick of red rouge, and a stick of White.

A word to the wise though, it makes a huge mess!

did you mean that you used $50 in compounds or that you spent $50 to have someone else do it?

If you had a shop do it, what type of shop was it and where were they? I'm in Fullerton about 25 minutes away.

I do have a bench grinder, but I do not have portable 5" grinder wheel. The closest thing I have is a 3" air cutoff tool which probably is a little too much rpm even on the low settings. I'd have to buy the different wheels to make this happen and the polishes.

I went ahead and bid on a kit on ebay that looks like it comes with a little of everything that I would need and even comes with a video on how to do it. What do you guys think?

wow, that is super cheap. No need for me to hastle with it when it's that cheap.

I'll probably still buy the kit to expand my knowledge base though.

$50 is awful cheap to have it polished, glad I never got into that business! You'd spend almost that much if you went and bought quality wheels, compounds, abrasives, etc. To do it right, it takes time and patience, nothing looks worse than a bad polish job. Good luck

Even better yet, just wait until a polished one becomes available on E-bay, buy it.. then put yours on E-bay and come out close to even....

I'd like to do that and move up to a t trim. That would be ideal... My current one is polished, but it could use a cleanup after being banged around and installed and removed several times.
