Default Cost of SC kits?

I have been looking at SC kits for C4 LT1 Vettes. Why are they so much higher then Camaros or Mustangs? Is it mass production or is there more to the kits? It seems the kits are around $6200.00

That's not the best part...if you want to make some serious power, you should estimate what you think you need to spend, and DOUBLE it! I got a deal on a vortech kit (previous owner purchased and never installed, he realized what he was getting into and went N/A stroker), only paid $2800. I have seen them for $4200 or so, look around. But like I said, I have spent that several times over on my "project".

If you are looking for the claimed 425 horsepower of the stock vortech kit, either get some nice heads and a cam for the same price, or sell the car now and buy a used Z06 and put an aftermarket air filter on it or something. I knew what I wanted, and it has been a very long road, although I'm almost at the end now, a couple years later. I wound up going with a forged motor, then changing the plan to a 383 stroker, then getting a trans and converter that could hold the power, the larger rear from the 6speeds, and countless other parts, accessories, gaskets, hoses, wires, etc. All in all, I could have sold my 94 for a good (low) price a couple years ago, and bought a used 02 Z06, and saved lots of time, blood, sweat, and tears. But, like I said, I knew what I wanted out of this. If you want to go for it, go ahead, I'll be here to answer any questions I can along the way.

By the way, More Performance has the Procharger kits for $4599.00. The Vortech kit is $5,981.95 on their website, so I guess the price has gone up in the last couple years. I'll keep an eye out for you.

I have already done most of the upgrades, dana 44, rebuilt trans with kelvar bands, red alto clutch packs etc. The engine is making 362 rwhp. I have ported heads, bigger valves, hotcam, LT headers etc.
I have to pass emissions inspections so I really cant go with anymore cam or compression. The motor has 105,000 miles on the shortblock so for the winter I am considering stroking it. If I was going to go with a supercharger now would be the time to decide due to compression ratio.
But I just dont understand why the corvette kits are so much more then other cars.

don't waste your $ for the sorry ass serpentine belt drive system with the Procharger/Vortech 92-93 cars. The more powerful your motor the more the belt will slip. Try to buy a used kit that already have a belt conversion done. That one will worth every $ for the sc kit. Without the conversion it ain't worth craps. again the powerful your motor the more craps it has. My 93 383LT1 make 4psi of boost at 6000rpm and pump back to zero psi.
