Default Stock LT4s runnin spray??

Hey gents. About to grab a barry grant system and run a 100 shot on my Stock internals LT4. I know we have a bit higher CR on these motors so I'm also going to run 100 octane fuel so no need to pull timing at those low numbers. Was wondering if there are any others out there with a failry stock setup (aside from bolt ons, exhaust etc) and if you have found any problems w/ 100 shot or more?? thx!!

remove the Hypertech tune, it adds timing for N/A power which you DON'T want with Nitrous, pull the TR55's out for some TR6's gapped about .032", make sure your fuel filter is fresh, consider upgrading to the racetronix intank pump kit with hot wire for your car, cheap insurance and is a good idea to upgrade for mods anyways, be sure your ignition system is oin good shape, make sure you don't have any cooling issues prior to it, ie.. flush cooling system to remove deposits in heads that may cause hot spots and detonation, make sure radiator is clean and flows well, 160 stat which you likely already have can't see signature in this page. hook up the nitrous and let her rip! you should be safe with a 100 shot as long as the peripheral systems are up to snuff and it is pretty cheap ensuring they are, just a little labor intensive, pump is the biggest expense but is worth the peace of mind, running a wet kit will put the stock pump to the test when the fuel solenoid opens, you want to make sure your fuel pressure doesn't fluctuate too much, other then that fairly cheap to do these things and feel secure about it.. a 100 shot on a solid LT4 should put you in the high 11's near 117-120 MPH with a goof launch. a window switch is also a good idea to make sure you don't stress the motor at lower levels and maybe throw her on a dyno to make sure your AFR's are where the supplied jetting is supposed to put them. Have Fun!

Excellent advise Chris!! And damn correct. I don't use the Hypercrap for any type of performance gains at all (had on the dyno and actually cost me HP ), I use it for lower fan turn on temps, top speed elminator etc. Have a 160 and clean/flushed system along with new opti/pump and plugs (install courtesy of me ). The only thing I will need is the fuel pump which I have been considering. Unsure of why you mentioned to drop the 55s for the TR6s tho....I can only assume you are concerned about the heat range of the plug since both are coppers. In that case I would definately drop one range colder. But considering it's only a 100 shot....I don't think it will cause me much concern since I want to maintain the motor in its original form. Thanks for the input

sounds like you have it under control then.. the drop in heat range will not effect your normal driveability as far as you can notice, but the heat range colder will help stave off detonation on the spray, I actually have become fond of running a heat range colder plug in most of my vehicles and generally run a slightly tighter gap then what is OEM recommended and have found it to gain some power on lightly modded motors. anytime you raise your cylinder pressures as high as nitrous does, you need to worry about detonation.. the added stress from the nitrous causes detonation to become a very piston unfriendly circumstance. never hurts to error on the side of caution when it comes to deciding between 20 bucks wirth of plugs and a multi thousand dollar engine rebuild... even as tough as plugs are to change in these cars... lol good luck with it and keep us posted!

You can not under any reason use the Hypertech programming for the engine tune you will lose the motor on the 3 or 6th run.
Use the hypertech to remove the limiter tire size, and a 160 stat is in order.
If you drop the coolent temp ,about every 4 ths miles I would run a can of BG carbon and injector cleaner ,the engine will build up alot of carbon and that is not good,it also makes it hard to remove the plugs when you need to change them, if you don't clean the carbon from the motor.
The fuel pump you need to run is the Warlboro 20000169 ,takes about 30 min to replace ,don't forget to make sure the "O" rings on the gas tank bolts are in good shape.
I would see if you can get some 106 nitrous race fuel unleaded that is what I run ,and you will never have problems with the motor, ping.
I use B8EFS ngk plugs at 25 or 30 on the gap.
I run a 125 shot on a 94 LT1 11.21 at 122.36 mph.
I do not shoot off the line.
Have fun and don't get greedy!!!!

Correct, that is what it is currently used for and that's ALL it will every be for.

Good advise. I DO currently run the redline S1 every 2k miles to keep the system clean. Down here in FL, even with the fans and Tstat..it still can make it to the 190-200 marks so carbon build up is not a real concern.

106 is a bit high on the octane...100 should be sufficient for only a 100 shot. Keep in mind that the LT4 has a higher CR than the LT1 so the 125 shot may be pushing it without other safeguards in place. Thanks for your response!!

I just picked up a NX MAF kit, should have it on the dyno in a few weeks, i'll let you know what it puts down.
I'll be hitting the 383 lt4 with around 150-175hp shot

I don't think they will let you hit it above a 100 hp on the dyno?
The car will jump off the rollers.
