Default a few ?'s for you guy's

i bought a used vortech supercharger on here a few years ago. the guy said this kit came with injectors but he never needed them because his car was a 94 or newer. now my car is a 92, the kit has everything including the ( fmu ), but the injectors that he spoke of are not . do i need to up my injector size? also i have to pull the gas tank and i want to know if there is a pump i can put in there so i don't need the booster pump? now this kit was the 1 that says 125 horsepower increace and it has the origanal pullys, and i dont plan on changing them anytime soon, do i need to beef up the lower end? i don't plan on taking it to the track, just as a daily driver with a little boost. i know that engine timing is key to keeping it all together the kit does have a crane ign with the remote timing retard control. but i like the moates ostrich. and i like the idea of less wiring and more control of things. does anyone have a bin that could get me started? thank so much and keep up the great work. this site RULES!!

I'm not sure what injectors your 92 came with, but I just had to post because I noticed you are from Marianna, FL where I grew up! My family still lives there and I visit regularly. Nice to see some 'local' people on the forum.

The '92-'93 had 22# injectors and the '94 and on had 24# injectors. If you are using the FMU that came with the setup you shouldn't need to do anything with the injectors. However, calling Vortech would answer all of your questions.

Why are you pulling your fuel tank?? You can change the pump without pulling the tank, took me less than an hour the first time I did it, I could do it now in under 30 minutes. Get a Walbro 255LPH pump. Get the high pressure version. You can pick these up for about $100. Then you don't have to use the booster pump.

The timing is a big thing. Vortech has an ignition that retards timing depending on how much boost you have. I think this is the way to go with a stock setup. I'm not sure what the ostrich thing is but if it does the same thing it should be ok, if it just retards a set amount of timing you'll be better off with the other box. You can pick the vortech ones up for under $100 off of ebay.

If you keep it at 6 psi and retard the timing you can get away with the stock bottom end. But keeping a couple of grand in the bank "just in case" wouldn't be a bad idea.

What are you going to do with the bin file? If you are using the FMU then you don't need to mess with the computer at all. If you want to do it all computer controlled then you need to get some bigger injectors as well, I'd say ship it out to the pro's for something like that, or if you'd like to do it yourself, pick up a portable wideband setup like an Innovative. then you can get it tuned right. Having the wideband might not hurt to make sure the FMU is setup correctly too if you go that route.

Just some words of advice from a guy that hangs out here a lot.

tts datamaster is a nice tool to monitor knock. Knock will kill your stock bottom end. It will also let you peak at the 02 readings.
