Does adding A/C to my 71 effect Value negatively?????
Hi, Can any NCRS experts answer these questions as I don't know what to do?! I own a 71, 454, 4speed that got a Top Flight Award in 1998 and has been improved since. Living in NC is really hot and this car does not have A/C. By adding a modern aftermarket a/C and a larger than stock radiator does that knock the car out of a Top Flight Award assuming everything else was correct?
Would adding A/C reduce the car's value? Opinions? Thanks, Fred

Personally, yes. If the system can be removed later with no evidence that it was installed and all original parts are still available, you should be fine.
I am old school, still drive with no A/C in 110 degree AZ weather.

Fred, Go for it. Your car has '69-style side pipes on it now so go ahead and use the darn thing. If somebody really wants a trailer queen in the future, they can easily return the thing to box stock. There are a number of people out there (especially one guy here in San Antonio) that will do the conversion and leave you the possibility of returning to stock in the future. Expect to pay around $3 grand. Good luck. RandyB '70 L46 Survivor Coupe

First off, your car is gorgeous. If you really want a/c, do it as long as you can take it out quick and easily for judging. Wouldnt want to lose a top flight award over something as small as air conditioning. Best of luck with your beautiful vette. I'm envious.
