I stopped by a local car dealer tonight after hours. They have a C3 sitting on the lot, not yet with a price. I have a '72 (mine) and my wife really liked the look of this one (to be hers). I'm not good at judging year of the later C3's, but I think it is a 79/80. Automatic, mirrored T-tops, red leather interior, white exterior. Power windows, A/C, rear defrost, power antennae, 86k miles. Body looks real solid, some very minor webbing in the very front of the nose, some minor paint chipping (not FB chipping, appears to be just the paint) behind the doors, right in front of rear wheels. Seats have no tears that I could see. Carpet is badly faded, as is lower carpet panels on doors. Has what apppear to be new/near new Eagle GT II tires. All wheels have centers and studs. Exhaust looks original with original cat in tact. Underside looked pretty clean, no frame rust that I could see. While it was dusty, it was not "dirty" and there was no sign of serious scale on the frame.
What do you guys think in cost? I know the market is down right now. I've been seeing early chrome-bumper C3's in very good shape going for under $10k on eBay, which even six months ago seemed like an unlikely phenomenon. My wife really likes the look of the car, especially the mirrored T-tops, the white exterior, and the red leather interior. I plan to stop by tomorrow and see what they are asking and take it for a drive. I don't have a lot of seat time in my '72, but I did drive it back from Ohio (650 miles) so that's pretty good!
