Worked on the AC tonight, got the old dryer and hose assembly out of there. Going to work on Saturday, may get more done on it afterward.

Do you supposed this car could make a trip to Texas? Looks like you have done alot of work on it, alot that would be needed before a long road trip

I'm going to start putting miles on it as time permits. The tires are of unknown age, other than that I can't think of anything that would be an issue.

The air conditioner lives! I took the car for a 60 mile drive this evening, about half of it rural roads at 50-55 mph and the rest on a divided highway running 65 with a burst to 80. Car ran good.

Well. I wasn't happy with the air flow from the AC. I went and got a new blower and motor for a 86 vette and made up a 3/4" spacer. When I pulled out the old motor, I found part of the reason for low air flow. It had the wrong blower wheel on it. It was about 1/4" shorter than stock. The one on the left is what came out of it, the one on the right is what should have been there.

The one on the right in this pic is the new one with the homemade wood spacer.

Before I installed it, I stuck my hand in the hole and found it nearly full of leaves. I stuck the vacuum hose in there and sucked it out then stuck the camera in and took a pic. Still lots of leaves.

Put an air blower in the back side of the evaporator through the resister hole and blew through it then vacuumed it some more. Nice and clean now.

I put in the new blower with the spacer as well as a heavier ground wire. This thing moves air like it should now. Worth the time invested and the price of the new blower.

I wanted to jump in here and say how nice it was to buy the car from Dean. He is a really nice guy. He answered all our questions and informed me of things that I didnt ask about to make sure I knew what I was getting into as a first time classic car owner.

He was very honest with the pictures he took of the car and when I got there she was nicer than I was expecting. I will post some pics when she is home in her new garage and / or out cruising around.

Anyway, thanks again Dean for the chance to own her.

I am grateful for the opportunity,

John

i will say that in all the cars i've looked at for the past month +, this was the one that interested me the most...., mainly cost, how it looks, modified engine....sadly i am not ready to buy yet, not sure when it will happen, have some things to take care of ....but i suppose patience is in order....but i did love the look of this car....pictures were nice to see as the sale progressed...good luck w/ your new vehicle!!!!
