I have a '68 T top 327/350 4 spd which I've owned since new. I've kept it as original as possible since I bought it. It's been garaged pretty much all it's life. It's not perfect; but, I do not regard it as a project car since I drive it once a week. If you're interested, let me know.

Sooo Bad

I am looking at a '68 convertible, both tops, 4 speed, big block (not original), ps, pb, blue/white/blue. It has not been run since about 1980. Stored in a barn, but mice had access. It looks like the paint is good, but hard to tell in the light. The carpets need replacing for sure.

What should I agree to or offer? I realize it will require seals, etc., to even get it up and running, let alone be a good week-end driver. The best news is the mileage, it only has 27,700 miles on her!

I know what it could be worth, but what can I expect to put out to get it. I do not have tons of cash, but the time and shop to get it up and running again!

PS It is in Montana, if that makes a difference...

Sooo Bad, many ? How good of a look could you get? How rusted is the frame? Was it a big block car originaly or just a transplant? Does the engine turn over or is it frozen up? I lived in Missoula and Bearmouth Mt and know the pack rats eat EVERYTHING! I trust you will have to replace wireing, vac hoses, rubber seals, convt top, and any other plastic parts the little buggers thought tasted good. (and then there is the pee smell) I doubt it has only 27k miles, my 69 had 86K miles when I purchased it in 1981, (original 427 gone replaced with 350) my guess is it has 127K as the original engine is gone. I paid $6000 in 1981 for my 69, in running, driving condition and it needed almost a complete rebuild and the engine restored to the present period/car correct engine. This car seems to be similar to a 1986 pace car convt. I won at an FBI auction in Wash. DC for $4056 It was in the impound lot for 3 years, needed everything and we ended up spending $26000 to restore it. (big mistake) If you are a Corvette owner I am sure you are aware that 68s have a number of 68 only parts that can be hard to find and the $$ can add up quickly. What is he/she asking? You are really rolling the dice as what you are getting into. You really need to get it out into the light of day and look it over well. Not having the correct engine, needing a complete rebuild, and not in running condition, I would guess price somewhere under $5K (as much under as possible) Best of luck, hope this pans out for you, keep us informed, pictures would help.
