WTB: 1971 454 OR LT-1 ROADSTER or COUPE
#161
I had a new 1973 Vert. back in 1973 and it didn't have PS so the dealer installed it for me, used parts. Cost was maybe $300 back then. Now I know it wouldn't be original but it wouldn't be a deal killer for me. Maybe it was something else about this 71 that wasn't quite right. Not a big fan of warbonnet and since you couldn't get A/C not sure what options you could want, I suppose PW, PS, Deluxe Interior, Tilt Wheel, so I suppose this car is pretty low on options. But I bet most LT1's aren't optioned real heavy.

First, I am new to the forum. Second, this is an entertaining thread. And lastly, theblackvette, the only mistake at this time may be that you have let an acceptable car slip through your fingers on the quest to find perfection. Hopefully you have not let this happen yet, I wouldn't want this to become a disappointment or a regret later on. I have made this mistake (not with a vette) and realize it after it was to late. Just some more advice, keep on doin what your doin, you'll find one sooner or later, but you will get it. Don't give up.

It's Friday afternoon.... Here's a '71 LT1 for you just listed in usedcorvettesforsale which is almost undoubtedly the real deal for about $20k: http://www.usedcorvettesforsale.com/...ETTE-LT1-55671 and it is a real survivor right down to the smog pump and what appears to be the original paint. Looks like a log book back to the '70s, too. The only problem is that it's sort of ... uh ... an original survivor in need of some work. Not the NCRS-grade car you want, but with your budget, there's room for a new interior, a repaint, and having someone spit-shine the engine bay. Even the engine decals look original on this thing.. So, I suppose the bright side is you probably don't need to worry about this being a fake...

The smog system looks incorrect for a '71. I do not believe there were reliefs on the pumps in '71, and the diverter valve is incorrect. While the log book shows some dedication to record keeping, the engine bay and the rest of the car is in pretty sad shape. "Survivor" is a Bloomington award, and thus should be reserved to those cars that have specifically attained that award.

The engine pad on that corvette looks very suspect, but I am not a pad expert. I have not seen an engine suffix that crooked or spaced.

I'm willing to pay to play. I'm looking for a 1971 454 4 speed OR LT-1 roadster or coupe. Looking for one fully optioned but willing to look at others. I'm looking for low mile original or frame off restored. No projects and no rust. I'm willing to pay for QUALITY. I will respond to all offers.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Thank you so much for checking in my thread. I bet your corvette is quite the show stopper with that BB and two tops.
Although I have considered other years, at this time I have limited my search exclusively for a 1971 model year.
If things should change, and they very well could, I will certainly look you up. Thank you and best regards.

1971 454 Convertible
Well if I knew how to post this I would, but I'm sure you can. Look on Milwaukee's Craiglist and there's a 1971 454 convertible with a claimed 53,000 original miles. Looks really sharp and I'm thinking this could be the one. Aking $39,500
