1970 454 4-speed conv. 500hp. 22k obo
CAR IS SOLD!
Engine was rebuilt 3 years ago and has less than 2000 miles on it (non-original motor). High volume oil pump, forged dome pistons and all new bearings, seals, and rings. Edelbrock Pro-Flo intake and fuel injection system. Flows up to 1000 cfm and means no adjusting the carburetor, just get in and go! Tuned for Comp Cams Xtreme Energy 268 hydraulic cam. All this adds up to approximately 500 hp, tons of torque everywhere, and good idle quality (15 inches of vacuum). The hooker headers and side pipes give the exhaust great flow and an amazing sound.
Transmission is a numbers matching Muncie M21 close ratio 4-speed. Shifts great and pulls strong at every rpm.
Aluminum radiator with high flow electric fans means the engine wont overheat whether running through the canyons or idling in traffic.
Newer shocks all around with modern rear sway bar gives balanced handling (very impressive for a 43 year old car).
Exterior: Paint is about 6 years old and has a few imperfections, overall 8.5/10.
Interior: Newer black seat covers and black carpet in very good shape.
Manual windows, brakes, and steering (kind of a pain in parking lots, but fine above 15 mph).
Vacuum powered headlights and wipers work great.
No air conditioning. Put the top down, you'll get plenty of air.
White soft top is not in the best of shape: Looks fine from about 20 feet, but has two small tears that were repaired and some small spots of discoloration. Will keep you mostly dry if you're caught in the rain though.
Alpine am/fm/cd player hooked up to speaker box in the back (large sub on bottom of box). Not sure of specs, but louder than the car at 75 mph if you turn it up.
Asking $22,000 or best offer. Car is located in San Diego.

I have had few people asking whether or not the car was originally a big block. The vin in 1970 did not have an engine code, but this is what i was able to find out:
What the car has:
-Caps instead of "straps" on the rear U-joints
-5600 rpm redline on the tach
-Engine tag between seats reads: 390 hp 500 lb-ft 454 cu-in 10.25:1 compression ratio
-two fuel lines by the tank (consistent with 390 hp model, current system is returnless)
-Rear sway bar (installed, but looks newer, so not entirely conclusive).
Other ways to tell (from looking around the forum):
-27.5 in copper radiator (my radiator is aftermarket aluminum)
-no AIR fittings on exhaust manifolds (my exhaust is headers to side-pipes...not stock)
-big block hood w/454 lettering (My hood is aftermarket high-rise).
-tank sticker/build sheet (my fuel tank is newer)
-testimony from previous owners: Previous owner *stated* he had owned the car since the late '80s and bought it from his father who was the original owner. He also said it spent most of its life in Florida and as he recalls it had a big block originally. The only documentation I got with the car (besides a clean title) was a bunch of receipts for fairly inconsequential things (oil changes, fluid flushes, etc) from the early '90s and the user manual for the Edelbrock kit. ***I am not claiming what he said as fact!***
In summary: Nothing I have found so far was only found on small block cars.
What this means: Either the car was a BB car that had a lot aftermarket parts installed, or once the swap was made, the previous owner went to a moderate amount of trouble to make it look like a big block car.
If there is something else that people know of to check, please let me know.
