WTS 1970 454 4-speed black/black in MA
****SOLD PENDING FUNDS****
1970 Corvette Stingray Coupe
This is an original 454 LS5 390 hp/ 4 speed car. Very low production due to the GM strike.
Originally Monza Red with black interior, currently black/black.
Factory hot rod, no options car. I did add power steering to it. The car came up from Arizona and has no rust or rot anywhere. The body is very straight. Hood, T-tops and wiper doors were just repainted, the rest of the paint is decent.
The birdcage and rocker panels are rock solid. Has T-tops and removable back window, correct big block hood.
New windshield, original Astro Ventilation side windows.
Mileage : 57,800
Engine = 1973 454 from a chevy truck, unknown mileage. Runs good, no noises or smoke. Has Edelbrock Performer Cam, Edelbrock Torker II intake, Edlebrock Performer carb, regulator with gauge. New fuel pump, water pump, belts and hoses.
Ignition= HEI distributor with cable tach drive conversion with Taylor 8mm wires. New alternator. New battery.
Exhaust= Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers, 2.5” stainless exhaust, Flowmaster 70 stainless mufflers, with correct 1970 stainless slash cut rectangular tips.
Transmission= Muncie M-20 4-speed with rebuilt shifter, new Zoom clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, front bearing retainer and main bearing, Hayes flywheel.
Differential= Original big block diff with 3.55 gears, Muskegon rear cover.
Cooling= Modine 4 core radiator with dual Flex-A-Lite electric fans and Painless Wiring thermostatic switch.
Suspension= Edelbrock shocks, rebuilt suspension with new ball joints/bushings, VBP fiberglass rear spring, Van Steel adjustable strut rods. New U-joints.
Brakes= rebuilt calipers all around with stainless braided brake lines.
Wheels/Tires= BFG 235/60/15 Radial TA on factory Rally Wheels.
Electric headlight conversion, new door and T-Top weather stripping, 97 F-body seatbelt conversion, all new chrome except for front bumper which is in good shape.
Everything works but the clock and the wipers, working to have the wipers hooked up and functioning.
Overall it is a solid daily driver but needs finishing. The wipers need to be set up.
I drive it a few days a week, have put about 700 miles on it since I got it roadworthy last summer. Car is currently registered, inspected and insured.
$17,500 as is, more if I finish up all the odds and ends.
NADA has it higher but classic car prices are VERY subjective.

Maybe it's me, but I think you'll have a better chance getting what the car is worth if those little things were tidied up first. IMHO, of course. Nice, btw. Good luck.

I am picking at it here and there, just too many other projects. I see some real toilets for sale for mid to low teens so if someone wasn't afraid of turning a wrench here and there, its short money to get into a turnkey big block 4-spd chrome bumper car.

Yes, spent all afternoon taking the doors apart and greasing the window tracks, hooked up the climate control lines, installed new pull tabs on the rear compartment doors, some other odds an ends.
Forgot to mention, the whole interior has had Dynamat installed. Bought new speakers for it today, hooked up the stereo, sounds decent.
While I had the dash out, I shot pics of the kick panel and birdcage. You can see how rock solid the birdcage is, factory green primer.
Took some frame pics.

Orignally Monza Red
Non matching numbers.
There were NO black Corvettes in 1970.
Some people have asked how I verified that it is a big block. Apart from a tank sheet or paperwork, you can only tell by the radiator, tachometer, shifter plate, and differential.
In 1970, the 5,500 RPM tach only came with the LS5. The 370/350 was 6500, the 350/350 was 6000 and the 300/350 was 5300. Pulling the dash back, it is very obvious that this tach has never been out of the car. I have the original LS5 radiator that was in the car. The shifter plate, while easy to swap, is aged the same as the rest of the car. The differential has the big bearing saddles, not U-bolts.
This isn't some project or barn find that has been sitting and needs to be gone through. I drove it to work yesterday.
It is registered, inspected, insured, with a clean MA title in my name. It's not perfect, but it's not $40,000 either.
The wiper door works when I apply vacuum to the diaphragm, but its missing the lines and a relay to actuate it. I was going to go electric and just never searched out the parts to finish it.
The radio antennae is somehwere in my garage, still looking for it, and the weather hasn't cooperated with me gluing the new door weatherstrip on. Hopefully get that done this week.

Safety Car
This is quite possibly the most value-priced bumper C3 I've ever seen. And it's not a rolling pile of rusty junk. It's worth every penny of what he's asking...and then some.

Burning Brakes
Yes, you are certainly correct. Look at the great condition of the pillars and other areas. If I were in the market I would have been up there a week ago checking this car out. $17 grand for a nice 70 BBC

Had a few inquiries on the paint. I just did stage 1 of a 3 stage buffing and it came out pretty good. Paint is shiny. There are a few blemishes, bird stain, a run and some chips.
Really hard to take pics at night in the garage, with a flash and outside in the rain makes it just as bad.
Ten minutes with some touch up paint would make most of them blend in.
After final waxing.
