I looked over the yellow LT1 at CA Wholesale some months ago. It was in the back of a poorly lit garage, so little hard to fully scope (nice selling strategy). I'd classify it as a survivor, although it had been repainted long ago, and not very well. Otherwise the car looked intact under the hood (can't remember if it had headers) and with a clean frame. No fiberglass damage from what I could tell. Interior was complete and not very beat up, but not pristine, either. Certainly a worthwhile car at the right price, but I thought $35K was way too much considering the cost of a proper restoration.

yellow 1970 lt 1
I had a chance to look over the yellow 1970 LT 1 at Wholesale California. I have been a member of NCRS for many years and even though I am not a high ranking judge I have looked at enough Corvettes to know when I see a good original car. This is a very nice unrestored original car. I believe the paint to be original. The interior needs some foam in the seats and front carpet but other than that is good. There is no doubt that it is the original driveline. You can see the stamping on their website. The car runs good and has the smog equipment still on the car. I believe it has power brakes and windows but you should verify that. The sales people at WC are very accomdating. Just ask them to bring it out of the garage and take it for a drive. I believe I talked to a gentleman named Mike. He was very knowledgeable and has been iin the Corvette business for many years. The miles would appear to be original due to it's storage in Washington by the previous owner. When I talked to Mike it sounded like they were ready to make someone a good deal. I would buy the car except that my wife wants me to sell one before I bring another one home. Note also that the car has excellent documentation, there is no doubt that this is an original LT 1. If you are serious my advice would be to talk to Mike.

Thanks for the replies. Got home last night from a 2000 mile round trip to the central California and San Francisco bay area with trailer in tow. First, let me say that California's law that you can not tow a trailer more than 55 mph is stupid. Looked at three cars including a white 70 LT-1 north of San Fran. A little rough and in need of paint and, with 106k on the clock, a motor rebuild for staters. Owner had no documentation and was not sure if the tank sticker was there. Car had headers and did not have the original exhaust manifolds or air pump. Probably could have bought for $25-26K. Because I am going on a 1000 mile car rally in April, I took a pass. Even though not a first choice, pulled the trigger on a beautiful laguna grey 70 big block with A/C. Even though an automatic, the car was owned by an old **** retentive x-drag racer (gasser days) who operated a small auto repair shop that was full of old vettes and muscle era cars. He had a true barn find (really came from a barn) 54. The black California license plate showed the car was last registered in 1966. Car was beat but he is making into a restomod. He had a number of vettes including a red 86 lt5 ZR-1 with 2,900 miles on it. It's for sale and can be bought for high to mid 30's Anyone interested in the Lt-1 or ZR-1 can message me for contact info. Cheers.
